Lovely sunny day today. Took the stang out for a run. After collecting my service items I was driving to my mates house (he lives 4 miles from me) as he`s going to service it. I haven`t really opened it up much since buying it.

Long, `straightish` open road and I thought `why not?` Two cars in front holding things up then. . . shoe to the floor, over take both of them and go for it. Slowed down again for another couple of 50 mile an hour fellas then away again.

Didn`t realise there was some guy trying to race me. I never noticed until I slowed down for the village my pal said "I think he was trying to keep up there". I`m not a race type guy, I just like to open my car up now and then when the roads are quiet. Where I live theres no cops, or much traffic or houses so no `road racing is for assholes` comments please as I`m 42 and its not my thing.

A new Ford Focus ST. 5 cylinder turbo 230hp and 152 mph. He was left trailing behind  . My old girls bite is as bad as her bark obviously. Ok so it wasn`t a `real` Focus like an RS but respectable none the less.

Hey, you answered that like I was behind there :laughing5:. Funny you should reply as the Focus ST that couldnt keep pace has the same engine as the Volvo T5. I remember a good few years back the Volvo T5 was a fair car. The Police used them here.

Nice. I've had that happen to me before. Been quite a while though. Alot of people in bigger trucks like to try and keep up. Had a jacked up dodge ram try and tail me before.

I guess they try to meld the idea of fast truck/lightning + jacked up into one. It works only on some level. 500 horses in a jacked up 2500 can only move that 8k lbs of steel so well

not sure what the problem was? I have had kids in standard neons try to race me, and likewise I pulled up on the highway next to an arial atom and even though I knew he was going to spank me I tried to keep up. Its fun all around....

Focus ST is not a slow car, nice. You're very lucky to have space and no cops :)

Some time ago I was washing my car and some guy came drooling and told me he drove a Fiesta ST. I was really surprised when he told me his fuel mileage was the same as my Mustang (which is horrible). So the Fiesta ST is much smaller, costs more and has the same fuel mileage as my Mustang? Why doesn't he drive a Mustang?

Maybe I should think about taking a boat and go to Scotland for a holiday :)
