I have a junior hockey player billeting with me for the season. He borrowed the Mustang on a brisk 29-degree morning and totaled it 0.4 miles from my house. Not sure what happened, but he spun it in a turn and grazed a telephone poll and some small trees. Not a single panel that wouldn't have to be replaced/repainted. Front suspension wrecked, hole through the roof. Sad to see my first car go. It was a fun one with 117k of happy miles.

Kid and his girlfriend are fine, thankfully and most importantly. When the car was "totaled" out when the truck wheel went through the windshield maybe 17 years ago, the buyout was $5k. I bought it back and repaired it. This time it's so far gone, I'm not going to revive it. At least I'm getting $9k for the car. It kind of scared me anyway.

I'm not mad. A little sad because it was my first car AND inexpensive to own and operate. He's not allowed to drive the Audi or the Ferrari. I'm also getting married this year, so I should probably have something a little more responsible that has more than two doors and a manual transmission. Salvage yard let me keep the mustang ornament, so I'll probably mount that on a plaque. Now to figure out what to replace it with.

Just for kicks, I looked up nationwide if there were any 97-98 GT Convertibles with manual trans for sale. There are three.
