I loved working at shops. I liked it even better when i managed the last one i worked at. Although some of the shops i worked at had crappy health benefits.

You will find after a while working there, working on your own car will be a chore. I was so burny out that I would not even change my own oil. I only got the urge to work on my projects again after I stopped working in a shop. Shop life SUCKS!

+1 worked in a shop for many years and still do a lot of side work, it can be tiring to work on my own stuff. the only time I did like working on it was when I could find a way to work on it during otherwise business hours. didn't happen often. never happened after I went flat rate. if there is no work, I go home.

well i hope that i never get that way ill just have somebody slap me

I took about 5-6 years before burn out really kicked in. It feels like you have never left work and you are bringing it home with you.

Good luck, it does not happen to everyone.

i love my effin job!!! look what came in today for an oil change and a/c service. an 06 ls2 vette. sexy black with full length headers and borla cat back exhaust. not sure what the headers were? its s/c and the guy is estimating about 650 rwhp and i got to drive it today. it was an auto which was the only lame part but it was sweet! http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ked/Image2.jpg we also have a 67 mustang with a 428 in our shop getting custom exhaust done. the guy says he wrecked it almost a year ago and couldnt let it go so he decided to rebuild it from the ground up and man is this car sweet! the exhaust and paint are the final touches. hope i get to drive that thin tomorrow
