about 6 years ago my first mustang was hit head-on by a drunk driver. I loved that 98 GT. I took it to bone stock mid-high 14's to 13.36@101 on stock heads. bought a pair of 99 gt's but they were not the same. sold both of them within a year of buying them.

Last october, a month after my 2nd son was born, i came accross a 98GT that i could not pass up, http://www.modularmisfits.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1755
Mind you, i hate red cars, but the amount of work done to this 2 valve was too much to pass up.

Fast forward to late october, i take it to the racetrack for the first pass at national trails raceway, near columbus. Heat up my DRs with a John force burnout, look beside me to see a new 5.0 GT in the other lane thinking, he may get a bit of a suprise. But the suprise was all mine. reved the motor to 4500 RPM, and when the last yellow flashed i dumped the clutch.

now the rearend is out, i have accumulated most of the parts for the rearend, bearings, new 4.10 gear, I even found a set of lakewood 50/50's with UPR coilovers for the rearend.
pics to come of the progress and the surgery.

I call her, The Phoenix.

got some work done in the garage

painted the bumper valence

painted the inside of the runk with rubberized undercoating, it looks better than the scratched up red paint and should help with noise a little

installed the coilovers, just waiting on the rearend to get back, and i can get everything together

This is true. If I wasn't so attached to my first mustang, I would have 3 other mustangs in line. But at the end of the day its your creation, your styling, and your b.s.t (blood, sweat, tears).

I just laughed when i snapped mine, my wife wasn't very pleased, but i knew i'd have to build it sometime, just sooner rather than later.

BTW, i just got it back, hopefully i'll have it in the car sunday evening. unbelievably, i need to go into town to get 1 nut for the coilover, apparently it's fine thread and i can't use the other susp. nuts i have laying around.

I'm not very happy with the new ride quality, but i like the current ride hieght. I may change my mind about the rear coilovers and go bace to springs and cut them.

it's been a while since i've driven her, damn, getting to 90-100 takes nothing.

BTW that is my 4-year-old, parker, he LOVES the car.

In front of you
So your the one who bought Lukes car, well done sir. You own a small piece of history there. As for the rear going back to the stock springs with one coil cut out is the best for getting some bite out back. If you search my name and posts you should find a post were i put up vids from my sponsor Team Z and Dave talksa bout getting the suspension set in the rear. Anyways best of luck with your build and hauling ass at the track.

The coilovers were swapped out for the stock shocks& springs, I did cut 1 coil out and it is a bout an inch or so lower than it was before coilovers, and rides alot better than the solid bushing coilovers.

New development, driveline vibration causes the tailshaft seal to leak, Got a Aluminum DS coming and will have a new seal to put in.

also traded away the rough riding coilovers for a shiftlight and cash. that's why we call them projects. . .

well i'm almost done buying parts for the car, i would like a line-lock later on.

but after finding this on criegslist, i'll only need to save up to paint the car black and it will be exactly how I picture it in my head
http://columbus.craigslist.org/pts/2871846383.html

new cobra R hood, I may have a friend paint it red to match in the short term, but in about a year the car will like sinister.
