00 PI motor, 5 speed car. Stage 1/262 comps or stage II/comp 270's? Unported PI's, 3.73s, supporting mods, longtubes, etc. Which ones do you think would perform better for the motor. Eventual plan is to boost it, just seeing what you feel is best. Suggestions?

trust me i know jerry lol i saw you picked up those cams. The main deal is i'm not to sure if i want to mess with springs. I'm not gonna port the heads by any means with it being a stock bottom end.

im not portin either, the heads i bought were disassembled anyways so upgradin cams aint no big deal for me. i do have the stock PI springs though and everything else, i just gotta install em when i get the cams/springs

I have the comp 262's and really like them. 270's need some rpm and also usually do well with ported heads. I make power all the way to 6000 rpm with the 262's. I just couldn't justify the 270's making 5-10 more rwhp ( maybe not even that with my setup) when the car is mostly street driven and and the 262's make great power throughout the powerband.

262's advertise pull from 1900-5600(or something like that, lol)

270's advertise a powerband from 2400-6200(again cant find the exact specifications)

Comp 270's, you already have everything you need, and they make a decent blower cam to boot. I see used springs on the corral for 100-125 all the time. They are a piece of cake to swap if you have some compressed air around.

I have 200 gallon air compressor here at the house, its industrial lol.. i have the powaa.. I figured so. guess i'll have to wait.

As for the bottom end, yea it's all i can afford. I can get bottom ends all day long for free or cheap, if i knock one out i'll slap another in, can't afford the forgedness.

I know street racer's who have the most bad ass top ends you can buy, on stock shortblocks. Same theory, they may lose the car anyway, but even if they don't, and it just blows everywhere, they'll drop 500 bucks on another shortblock without blinking an eye, every weekend.

thats how i'd be also. Either way, i dont street race the car like that. It's a play toy daily, so no need to take it that serious. I just cant afford it lol

I've ran both of those cam sets in my car. The 262's were a better around town cam but the 270's will work great with a blower like JR said.

yeah i ran both sets n/a with my stock shortblock and ported PI heads and PI intake.

They were great, they even had a nice lope to them. The only reason i sold them was i picked up the roots blower and wanted the VT blower cams after seeing amazing results with them.

Make sure you degree the 270's....they have a few degrees of advance ground into them. Watch out for PTV
