So who all here has a Kenny Bell on their PI swapped 96-98? post up what you gained and any regrets if any.
My compression has been taken care of. my guy installed custom cometic gaskets to bring the compression back down. so thats not a issue. my swap was done right with all intentions of putting a kenny bell on her. but thanks for the warning. and there are plenty of guys running around with the 9psi intercooled kit with no problems.blown97stanger said:better make sure you have a built motor with the bump in compression, especially if you plan on running more than 8psi

The KB kit for the NPI was not that popular because it was not intercooled and they stopped making it. I have only seen one person with a PI swap car and he had the 2.2 i think and heads/custom cams etc and was in the mid 600rwhp area.

Oh really...? I have a KB intercooled on my NPI. It was the 5.0 that had the 1.5L that was not intercooled.
And if you think the 1.7L for the NPI was not that popular just ask us guys that are making 350hp + with a 9lb pulley. The 1.7L was replaced with the 2.1L for reduced heat among other things and can be used by the 98s.
Btw, I've asked KB this question and they would not answer me. So, I'm guessing they would not warranty it cause it's not built for that and their chip is not tuned for that.

I am getting old, i forgot they did have a IC'd kit for 96-98. If i did go with one in the future it would be the big boy 2.8.

Im running 11 psi through my PI motor with full bolt ons, long tubes, with no problems so far.
The KB is kind of hard on the internals though so I would definately keep it like 9 psi tops
Yea mat has been doing my tunes for a while now. my last R&R home i finally had him tune it on the dyno 265RWHP not bad with the old slush box. 9 psi will be the limit for a while till i can get a built short block. I most likly go with a JLP when the time comes. we will have to meet up when i am home and hit the track.
