Know anything about 08+ Audi TTs?

Was planning on buying a new car but stumbled across a gorgeous '08TT with Premium package, xenons, and the really hard to find S-line sport package (all of which are a must). Red on black, just how I'd want it. It's the 2.0T, FWD model which is fine because I don't want to deal with a trashed AWD system if the tires wear even slightly uneven. I wouldn't mind a V6 FWD one, but for a daily the 2.0T will do. Also has the iPod hookup, although it's well known the hookup is crap prior to 2010 (not fully integrated). No spendy magnetic ride control to deal with on this one either. Two owner car, both owned it for 2.5 years.

In other words, it's pretty much the exact TT I would want. The sole downsides are that it's an '08 which is already getting old (and it's a first year car) and it has 35k miles, which is more than I'd like. If I were to buy a TT I'd really prefer a '10 with around 20k miles. But I'm also smart enough to realize that a red/black TT S-line with premium and xenons a mere 8 miles away and flawless is not something that I'm going to come across often, if again at all.

Trying to get info on them from the Audi forums, but everyone over there is too busy playing with 2013 TT RS cars to bother paying attention to a thread about an '08. There doesn't seem to be much info out there as far as issues, etc. Just lots of reviews that really praise the car.

Anyone have any info?

Here is the car, gorgeous condition:

There are only a couple Audi dealers in the area, just called one to see if they had service history and they do all the way back to when it was new, car never missed a service and actually had it's 35k mile service done at 30k miles this past June. I'm pretty sure the 35k mile service is the big expensive bastard with the expensive tranny flush.

So tempting...

Only thing that would really suck is buying a car like that now in December and drive it off into the winter salt and slop and not be able to give it proper detailing until like...April. Not sure how I feel about that.

It's the same thing as my '99 Beetle. Well, except the turbo part. Good cars, kinda retarded to work on though.

I don't think it is; it shares the platform with an A3, and uses the GTI engine.

Anyway, the deal's off I guess. The dealer sent me a copy of the service history, it was hailed on when it was six months old, and shortly after the driver's door was damaged. Not buying a car that I know has had body work. A damn shame, since it's a beautiful car. Even if the body work was done perfectly (hell it could all have been done with PDR and not have had paint work), just knowing it had body work ruins it.

****.

Glad it fell through, total chick car IMO.

If you do get an Audi, I'd personally get an awd model for sure, thats their best feature IMO. Especially if you live in an area that has winter weather to worry about.

Yeah I don't know, I've heard $$$$$ nightmares of AWD repairs since they are really tempermental to even slightly different treadwear on tires. FWD is plenty fine for winter, considering I've always only had RWD and been fine with that. AWD would be cool no doubt, but I don't want to deal with a several thousand dollar repair if/when it goes out. If you don't have it, it can't break.

I love the A5 too, but $$$$$ for one of those still. I love the TT, always have since the '08s came out. Nothing girly about them IMO. Sleek, sexy, and elegant.

^+1: yeah fwd>rwd in bad weather, but still I'd not buy a Audi without their quattro awd system. Did the one you were looking at have any warranty? I'd only have a Audi if it was still under warranty because you are correct about their awd being fickle. If I had to have a fwd, I'd just as soon have a civic thats cheap and reliable IMO.

Hey if you like them thats all that matters, but they are feminine, top gear and google concur;)

P.S. I drove a 6th gen. toyota celica for a few years, so I'm not judging you for liking a girly car haha.

Nah it didn't have any warranty; it wasn't certified since it was at a Benz dealer and they told me only Audi can apparently offer certified Audis, whether that's true or not. That was kind of a downer too.

I was actually just looking at some S5s earlier today, so freaking EXPENSIVE.

fixed

if i were to get an audi, it'd either be an r8 (lololol) or an s4. s4's are real nice.

i seriously would buy an r8 over any other supercar. bypass ferrari and lambo, go straight to bright red R8. theres one around here, a red one, fawwwwk. you know what to be honest im surprised you dont see more of them given they are "only" around 150k. i see plenty of 120k benzes, etc...could just as easily be an R8.

yeah i know a guy who has one. it's 2tone black and white. looks sick. he's also got like a billion other supercars, including this monster below, and a 458 spyder and all this other crap. it's nuts.
