4 years ago i had the compressor replaced on my stang because it went out and the a/c didnt blow cold. Ever since it was replaced the A/C Has worked amazingly.

Well i have noticed that over time the air doesnt blow as cold as it did before. YES the air does blow cold and works, it just takes a little longer to get the car cold and doesnt keep it as cold...But still cold enough.

I am thinking the car just needs a A/C Recharge since its been 4 years. I talked to Ford and they said it could be Anything and could be leaking. I doubt a leak because it still blows cold, just not SUPER DUPER NEW cold.

What do you guys think? Has anyone ever used a Home Recharge kit? Or should i let the "Stealership" have a crack at it and pay them $$$?

You probably have a leak at a o-ring. The reason why it takes longer to get cold is probably because you've leaked some freon out. My guess is that your leak is pretty small. You could try that recharger kit with the stop leak in it.

Yeah the only way you'd ever need a recharge is if you had a leak, freon doesn't "wear out" so to speak so if its not as good as it was then there's probably a leak somewhere. Like said it's probably a very slow leak, the stop leak in a recharge can might be enough to cure it, that was all my Cobra needed back in 02 and it still blows icy to this day.

Do it yourself. Easy as cake. Just get one of the cans with the gauge on, I did it with my bronco.

No you won't blow it up. Just get the one with the gauge and the stop leak. You could just get the can but the gauge is better so you can tell how low you were to begin with and how much it takes.

Have it hooked up to a set of A/C gauges and see what kind of presssure your at. Any greasy A/C joints or connections you can see?
Was the accumulator/dryer replaced 4 yrs. ago? If I remember correctly there is a small filter in the system there.
Why I ask is because the dryer portion of that unit only has the capacity to hold 1 drop of water. When it's full... It's full. That's why A/C guy's always want to replace this unit when the compressor or condensor is replaced. Saves you an evacuation/re-charge fee a second time.

Seems like a "while your in there" kinda thing. Just throwing ideas out there.

I took mine to a shop to charge it, just because i love mother nature and didnt want to hurt the ozone layer.. :p my uncle recharges A/Cs all the time from the parts store kits, doesn't seem to be too big a deal. I'd suggest doing it yourself, except that the shop that did mine only charged me like, $40.00 (parts and labor) so... i dono... i personally wil always take mine to a shop... $20.00 for someone else to do it? pffft, why break a sweat when someone else will for next to nothing? lol.

If you break a sweat or even spend more than 5-10mins doing it yourself you shouldnt be working on anything. Handz its so easy even you cant screw it up.

you looking for the blue cap. that should be your low side. You have to fill on the low side. If you buy one of the $25 cans that comes with the guage all you do is fill untill the guage says your full. close off the valve and your set. You a/c needs to be turned on full blast when your filling.

most the stuff that you buy comes with oil already mixed in it. If he flushed it for ya and refilled you got one hell of a deal but i doubt he got that extensive.
