lifters?

is there anything to gain from swapping them out? I am ordering the cam, pushrods, arp head bolts and the little crap I need to support the heads I bought last year and would replace them if it meant better reliability or more HP. My motor only has a little under 9K because it was replaced after a bad day at the dyno so I am not going to bother with the timing chain or other stuff that might be worn out on a normal 15 yr old SN.

I've only heard of guys replacing them because of mileage/age. If your motor has under 9k, Id say keep them.

I was looking in to buying some myself not too long ago because I'm about to do my HCI swap. Theres only the oem replacements and trickflow lifters which pretty much have the same specs. So i really don't see how they would help performance unless yours were bad. I'm waiting to see if I have to replace mine when I have everything apart and my engine has way more on it than yours, they're like 100+ and I can definitely use that somewhere else lol.

If they are 9k miles fresh they are good to go... if you do replace them just grab some OEMs

just leave them if they only have 9k unless you reused them from the broken motor to the rebuild one.

it was a freshly rebuilt one from jasper eng/trannys so I don't think they would re-use old ones and still give a 3 yr warranty on it.

Is it normal for the lifters to have a little bit of chipping in the pieces that hold the bearing? I ask because I wanted to re use mine as well since they don't have more than 10k miles either. They're FRPP and I installed them when I replaced my head gaskets a while back.

cool then I ordered everything yesterday and it should be here middle of the week. Not sure when I will get it all installed as I just got out of the hospital yesterday. I have been pulling the heads out from time to time to see them, can't wait to finally feel them. Now funny enough the car has never been running better, I am almost hesitant to crack it open. I went out for a quick drive last night and did a short launch and was suprised when I accidently chirped it in 2nd more then I ever have before. I have not tried since I put the 315s on there figuring it might lead to the clutch slipping rather then the chirp I use to enjoy. This time I was not even trying and somehow it was better then any time I tried but the weather was almost ideal for the car.

There is a question you have to answer first, like what RPM are you going to spin the engine. The stock style lifter are good to 6200 RPM. Any higher than that you will need to buy a short travel race lifter. Comp Cams sells such an item.
