do i need the same brand midpipe to fit longtube headers? for example would bbk l/t's bolt up to a shorty prochamber or would i need mac headers?

No your headers dont have to be the same brand. Just make sure you get shorty H or X pipe so it fits up to the longtubes. Its never a bad idea but no you dont need to buy matching brands.
