If the paint isn't absolutely horrible then I would say trade your car + $1000

theres no way he will take that deal though...he was selling it for 8,000 o.b.o. but jus lowered it to 7,000 if its cash. he has a few more people lookin at it today and im going to meet up with him tommorow in the afternoon once i get off work. Idk depends on how much he likes my car i guess but you should look at the pics of his in that link. paint looks VERY good besides the hood but respraying that wont cost much and since its all leather interior with only 83,000 iles on it i would so take it if i only have to give him 2k on top of mine...I just hope its as nice as it sounds and someone doesnt get to it before me

he did say he got a hell of a deal on it. paint looks very bad in the pics on the link above, make sure he didnt just put a crap load of wax on it.

are u joking??? the paint looks very good besides the hood. and he said in there that the previous owner left wax on it in the sun for too long on just the hood. in all the pics you can tell the hood is the only part of the car with bad paint because of the wax but respraying the hood shouldnt cost much...

I would say 1k over yours and also give it a VERY VERY thorough looking over. Ask him if he has any problems with you taking it to someone to get checked out. You would rather be out $75 bucks then stuck with a bum car and less money.

yeah for sure im going to thoroughly look over the car...check out the engine bay, all the fluids, brakes, rotors, look under the car at the exhaust and the interior and take it for a drive for sure and give it some gas. Dont worry lol it will be pretty thorough but yeah i will probably offer him 1k over my car and say its because of the paint on the hood and ill give him both my sets of wheels and hopefully hill go for it. but idk depending on how nice it is i might have to offer 2k

I'd ask him why he's selling it before telling him that you know he just bought it...

If you get some bs answer like "I've had it for a while now and I just want something different", then you'll know something is wrong with the car.

very good call, if I caught someone in a lie like that I'd never buy the car cause God knows what they're trying to hide.

I don't know. Something seems fishy to me. He says it has stock 4:10 gears, Cobra's came stock with 3:27 gears. Also he says the trans was just flushed. I have never heard of anybody "fluhing" a 5 speed trans. Ask him what gear oil he put in it. If he says anything other than ATF walk away, Ford uses Mercon ATF in the transmissions.

Thanks for all the advice guys but i actually didnt get a chance to go look at it today...turns out he worked later than he had thought so we didnt get to meet up but do u guys honestly think that i could get an even trade or maybe just 1k for a nice low mileage cobra??? I dont think he will bite at anything less than 2k on top of my car from how he sounded on the phone but if u guys think i could get a better deal i can definitely wait...I just really want a nice low mileage 96-04 cobra that's affordable (my dream would be a termi but thats probably not going to happen so preferably a 96-98 cobra). maybe i should just sell my car and look for one, i wish i could find a really nice one between 5-7k but ive been lookin for a while and havent had any luck ;(

I know where there is a 96 mystic with 4k on the clock and a 20k price tag.

To be honest with you, If this car is in that good a condition, with that kind of milage. I don't think you will find one much cheaper than that. Also you are not going to find alot of bone stock cars out there, and those are the ones that have not been abused. For a 13-16 year old car, anything under 100k is going to be low milage. My 97 Cobra has 169k on it.
