Ok so I've got a fox and 2 95 gt's but I'm starting to look for a dd mod motor stang. I want to keep with the sn95 body. Whats some of the common mods done to the 96+ stangs? I'm a push rod junky but love the sound of a healthy mod. With in the next year ill buy one but in the mean time what should i look for as far as parts? I don't need another drag car , but me and stock don't work out to well eather lol. Any tips , suggestions , warnings?

go on youtube. Search 12secsn95 I have a few drive by videos and a few idle videos. HCI car with mufflers and off road H.

Common improvements are PI intake, heads and cams or a/m cams. Other then that, just the normal mustang modifications. They really arent difficult to work on, they can just be specific at times and people get frustrated.

Look up my build thread. thats about as extreme NA as you can get (based off a FS NMRA motor)

Maybe i haven't fully thought about this. Duff , what's your car weight? Any i deal what a 4.6 weighs? I was looking at stangs last night and for once my wife had a smart ass/good comment lol. I've got an 82 hatch thats supper light , and gonna shed a few more lbs yet. How hard do you think it would be to put a 4.6 in to that? Also a buddy of mine is selling a 4v motor , should I snag it?

IMO - if you want to stay around 300 HP, look for a 98 cobra. you'll be set.

if you want more power than that, you'll be looking to Modify the powertrain and you'll want something with the PI heads/IM.(98 or an aftermarket/swapped setup)

Not looking to make a ton of power , mainly just like the sound of the mod motors. I dig the look of the 4 eyed fox , it was my first stang and you dont see gobs of them. Thats why when my wife said just put that motor in the 82 i thought why not... The car weighed in at 2820 with me in it with 347. Everything eles was stock aside from sub frames and gears. It actually launches hard as hell. I've Always planed on a k member, seat deleat. Also kicking around the thought of a 6spd

I dont have a complete weight as far as assembled due to head/intake/block differences (soo many combo's) iron blocks are about 60lbs heavier then the aluminum blocks. so that is a big factor there. If you run a 4.6, edelbrock manifold, carborator and basic ecu for engine management, you should be ok. My car was heads cams intake car and made 300 wheel ran a 12.6 with 3200lbs (including me) SOOO you can make it boogie with basic hp. 4v motor will suck, I dont like personally like them so im biased, iI ld take it, scrap the heads and intake and use the bottom end, stuff PI heads with some cams and rock out with that combo.

If I done the swap it would be something along the lines of getting a wrecked 96+ and pulling all the wireing out and transplanting it unless someone like painless makesa kit. I've done the carb bit for way to long lol. I want it efi and some what stock looking like it belongs there. 250-300hp would be awsome , I'm also a bottle baby lol. Ill pass on the 4v motor. Are there any specific years that are better than others? What's the deal with the 5.4's , my boss suggested if i were to go through the trouble of a mod motor might as el do a 5.4. I've put a efi 5.0 out of a sn95 into a 68 mustang so doing my 82 shouldn't be a problem , or atleast i wouldnt think so....

5.4 is basically a 4.6 motor with just a little higher deck, however you just added a lot more weight. If you have the money for a 4v aluminum block (ie ford GT block with a dry sump) then there ya go but aluminum 4.6 with highcompression set up say 11.0-11.5 good set of cams and a solid tune you will be 300+rwhp in a light car thats a mid to low 12second car.

What ever I end up with have to like 89-91 octane as some of the smaller towns don't have the higher stuff. Ultimately i was this as my dd. The fact that the fox is so light will be my biggest saving grace on mpg. If I go with a 6spd that should help a bit and make it a real fun driver. Like i said , the car weighed 2820 with me and a 302 in it. I plan to ditch the rear seat, droup in a ;k member and a arms and lose every thing eles i can while I've got it apart. hopeing to shave atleast another 200lbs. I think I've got a pretty good ideal of what route i want to go now and what I'll need. Thanx duff
