Trickflow's for a thousand are dime a dozen, sometimes even less then that. GT40s= not worth the time anymore compared to the cheap used aluminum heads around anymore.

i have thought about this but im starting to piece back my shortblock and figured itd take awhile to get the heads sold. thats why i ask if i could just do something w/ these since its just a DD. id rather not spend that much b/c i have to do a top this winter too so the range would be more like 500 and maybe a little more.
thanks

still. Your not going to see near the gains nor the power band of a set of 6-700 dollar trickflows.

You can get a set of GT40's to flow very well but like Steven said, in the end it would be easier to just buy a set of used Edelbrock/TFS/AFR heads.

I have AFR's now but I have had 3 sets of GT40's on various Mustangs I have had and I like them a lot. They make about 25 over E7's and with portwork they flow paticularly well. Porting iron is expensive at shops because it is very tedious and time consuming vs. Aluminum.

I have a friend that ported my GT40's professionally. I can tell you everything needed to be done if you need.

I dunno what the Performer flows. I am sure it would take a good bit of port work to the GT40's to make it flow what the intake does. I just picked up a set of GT40P's and a Trickflow Stage 2 Cam the other day to start with my build.

You don't have to port the heads to match the intake. It will be fine as is.

thumper performance can port e7s to flow more than out of the box gt40s for around 600 so im sure for about the same gt40s could flow decent. but if your going n/a i would go for aluminum heads

TFS 2 is too big.

I do have the p's. They flow a little better then the regular gt40's. I have read around on quite a few places and gotten some pretty good reviews on it. Is there a certain reason you say it's to big or a certain lift or duration that you don't think will agree with the heads?

The difference in GT40/GT40P is negligable. Your gonna end up having a problem with clearance with the TFS 2. There are a lot of cams you can use though that work well with those heads.

A lot of people use these:

Crane 2031
TFS Stage 1
Steeda 19
Anderson Ford Motorsport B31

Whatever you do, make sure you check for clearance either way. Also invest in an adjustable pushrod checker.

Thanks for the heads up so it didn't slip past me. I appreciate it.

Yeah i would check it and if need be i would have to get notched pistons. I have heard that it works fine, but better to spend 35 bucks on a tool then to have a blown engine.

Paul, the TFS 2 really is TO big. It's that much bigger that unless you have atleast a 170cc runner I would not find it a viable choice in using it on your car. Your not pushing near enough air or cubic inches to make it worth while. I'd sell it and make money on it man.

I ought to just go Balls out and do a DIY port and Polish. Run the cam and a port/ polished GT40 :) Just for giggles.
