me VS SI

So, this girl who drives a new CIVIC SI wants to race. Its a two door, 6 speed, with the k20z3. My '98 GT is pretty much stock. I got 5 speed with short throw. In the 1/8, do you think they will hand my ass to me? I don't think she can drive too well, so I have heard.

My first time at the track there was a brand new SI (06-07 at the time) running a lot. I ran him twice...beat him by a good 1.5 seconds. I had the same exact mod as you...stock with a short throw :thumb:.

This is 1/4 mile btw...1/8th I would think you would be at even more of an advantage.

If it's the new Si we are talking about here then you'll get lit. They come with LSD stock and have factory launch control. Those cars are capable of running a low 14 second quartermile. A stock 98 with short throw shifter is sure as shit not running nearly as good as that.

I don't think he'll get "lit". I think they might be capable of a high 14 second 1/4 mile pass. I think it is more driver than anything. Like I said my first time at the track I was consistently running 1-1.5 seconds faster than a new 6spd Si.

I dont know where you guys are getting your numbers but that car is not capable of low 14...even high 14s is a stretch.

Its like 15.0 to 15.5 with a good driver...Maybe with a perfect launch and great conditions it might pull off a 14.9.

But generally your gonna see somewhere in the low 15s.

mototrend tested one at 15.3 at 92mph I believe.


Now your talking about some young girl driver..

I would be suprised if she could pull off any better than a 15.5 in the 1/4...Not sure what that is in the 1/8th...

The only worthwhile mod on this kids car is an X-pipe, so what did Motortrend test the NPI doomsday machine at through the quater? And who know's if he can drive? And, just because she's a girl, hardly means she can't drive. The fact that she chose an SI tells me a fair amount about her off the bat...

I would put my money on this young guy being able to bang the gears and launch his car better than this girl.

Just becuase she has a si doesnt mean she knows anything.

Shes probably some spoiled little brat whos parents bought her the car and she thinks its the fastest thing on the road.

the npi's are pretty slow, I know this...but with a decent driver and a good launch I would expect him to be able to pull off mid 14s which should be more than enough to pull on this civic si.

i have a buddy with an integra with full exhaust and an intake and he runs 15.0's lol and another one with a honda who did an engine swap and has intake/exhaust/pullies and a cam and he runs mid 14's

Well I JUST got back from the races. Mrs. SI never showed up. I raced a tribrian with nitrous. Beat him the first race, he got me the 2nd one. Then I raced a supercharged TC, and whooped his ass, bad. It was the first time I ever raced at a drag strip, and I learned each run. The first run i got a 9.87 on the 1/8. My last run, I got a 9.31 in the 1/8. I only ran 4 times. But i learned ALOT each run.

anyways...9.3 is about a 14.5 in the 1/4....more than enough to beat a civic si...those supercharger tcs run 15s....and its spelled tiburon dude ...holy shit you screwed that one up bad.

yea, theyre idiots..they spend like huge amounts of money on these hondas and theyre still slow...they need turbos to make any power...but even then...wow your turbo honda runs 13s? haha
