played hooky from work yesterday and went to Thunderhill again! it was a blast...worked on my driving a bit more and got some more speed out of the car! ran it out of brake pads though. lol. they were brand new before the event last Sunday...front pads are gone! hm...thats how much pad it takes to slow these hogs down from 120 I guess. haha. well here's the link to the pics. can't steal them off the site. also I should have video finally from this event once we cut them down to length.

I'm jealous.

If you had some real #s on that car, the pics would be frame worthy!! :)

I used to cut vinyl #s for HPDE/race cars to help fund racing. I can't help but to look at the tape #s. :) One of the dudes did a great job of cutting magnets he got at home depot, IIRC they were for blocking heat/cool vents at your house. Anyway he bought a few for cheap, and cut some #'s out of the magnetic sheets, and painted them with some plasicoat. Others I've seen cut some 2"x6" rectangles from a magnetic sheet, and make any # you want, like digital clock #s you put together with the rectangles.

Anyway, pics look great!

I was runnin Carbotech XP10s in the front, $200 a set. After burning up a set every 2 weekends, I decided to swap to the Wilwoods, $80/set of HAWK Blacks and they last about 3 weekends. The Wilwood upgrade payed for itself the 1st season.

thanks man! yeah I do hate the tape #'s....I have some magnets but they wouldn't let me use my number so had to tape it up. but other than that...I think the pics are pretty badass. are you talking about wilwood pads of calipers? I'm looking into the hawk hp+ pads....where do you buy your blacks from? I really need to get a good track pad that will last me a few weekends and won't have as much fade as the ones I just had. I also found out quick...I need to make some brake ducting now. the fade is noticeable...especially on such a fast track like Thunderhill with all the hard braking zones. if you have a pic of these diy numbers that would be awesome. I need to make some!

I can't wait to show you guys the video I've got....smoked porsche's and a corvette on my first run. actually....I wasn't passed a single time all day yesterday. it's nice not having to point anyone by because you are that much faster. and no...it wasn't because this car is that fast. hahaha.

You can just get the black pads from Jegs. Last time I checked they were $80ish. I'll be ordering a set here soon so I have some at the track. But those are 5.25" race pads for Wilwood Bridgeport calipers. When I was running stock PBR twin piston GT setup, pads were pricey. Price up a set of carbotechs at saferacer.com. The XP10 pads bite, when you drop the anchor there's no question whether they'll be there or not, you're instantly licking the windshield.

Vids, vids, vids!

yeah I have the cobra brakes up front...2 piston...so you recommend the carbotech's for sure? how much did the wilwood calipers cost you? those go with the rotors we have? I'm interested. I have noticed pads are sort of pricey...I believe they do make hawk blacks for my calipers too. at least I think they do. so bang for your buck...go blacks, all out braking...carbotechs? they both last about the same amount of time huh? and yep...I will get on those vids asap!

They should be a better street pad because they don't require a boatload of heat. I just checked and they did go up a little, they are $103 at Jegs for my Wilwoods.

I have a kit from revolutionbrake.com. Got it new from a guy that did not install it.

The Hawk Blacks.

http://store.revolutionbrake.com/14-0114.html

That's the kit I have. The calipers can be bought from Jegs for $150, that was something I liked as well. The Cobra R Brembo setup was much more expensive and replacement calipers are very difficult to find if I shell one.

The pads it came with were decent, but only lasted about 8 sessions. They were Wilwood pads, don't remember exactly the compound.

does that kit use the stock size rotors? if I were to buy those calipers, what all would I need to put finish the setup? do you still run stock rear calipers?

Yea, I run blank 13" NAPA rotors. The kit comes with brackets for a SN spindle. There is a little modification that needs to be done to the spindle at the caliper mounting tabs. I do run the stock rear Cobra setup.

This is what I bought:

Calipers are standard fare Wilwood 120-11132, Jegs/Summit has them for $157 each. And they will take any 5.25" bridgebolt pad. Very standard and any pad company makes them, you just have to do some cross reference.
