msd ignition

so is the msd tune up kit worth it? 8.5 wires,cap,rotor,coil, 162 dollars shipped on ebay
is it worth buying?
what else should i spend my money on? lol :]

I dont know what the MSD kit is for the Mustang, but I have a complete setup with an ignition box, timing control, distributor, coil, and wires in my Monte Carlo, and I love it. My dad upgraded his 73 with a similar setup, and that baby fires up with a flick of the key every time! MSD definitely makes some great stuff, but I dont know how good a kit like that is without the ignition box or distributor.

How many volts is the coil?
I could definately tell a difference with just a cap and rotor swap.

i think 12 to 15 volts not sure

I got the MSD 8.5mm wires, blaster coil, cap&rotor. Have worked fine for me

I have used MSD: cap, rotor, coil, and 6al box in addition to FRPP 9mm wires on both my 89gt and 95gt without issues. I installed
MSD "street fire" cheap version of their wires on my 95gt before I sold the car and they seemed to run fine.. $162 seems a little high
priced though. FRPP wires are around $40, MSD cap and rotor $25, and the coil less than $40.. Do you have a local parts store
like Advanced Auto near you? My local one keeps the cap and rotor as well as the coil in stock, possibly MSD wires too...

ya i do but the coil here in chicago is 54.99 wires are 99.99 sh*ts really pricey here but iunno i think the msd
can wait for now i just ordered a new top for the stang cause my car would leak water from the top so ya..i rather get gears for 149 shipped on american muscle

I've heard bad things about MSD lately. It seems that most people will tell you that their quality has gone way downhill. If it were me, I'd go with Jacobs Electronics or Accel brand instead.

I think they're bad rap is mostly because of their distributors and ignition boxes, all the other stuff is fine
