My car smells bad!

Not sure if this goes here but here we go anyways. I drive my car everyday everywhere. Today i needed to do a few things before work and it was cold out so i used the heat. I noticed an odor that just bugged the crap outta me. It smelt like cigarets/weed and it was pissing me off. the area that i am in i would expect it from the people there. anyways 20 minutes later hear still on and windows down smell is still there. rolled the windows up, did what i needed to do, and then came back out. smell was gone i was happy until i turned the heat back on.

Now here is the weird part. it only works when i have it on the floor. it i have it on the vent it is normal.

Any suggestions i can try....

Turn the vent on, spray Ozium into the cowl vents.

It helps quite a bit.

I suggest removing the cowl-vent cover from under the windshield (it just pops off real easy) and take all the dead leaves and crap out from under it....
then i suggest pulling back the carpet from under the dash a little bit.... with how old our cars are, you never know what could have gotten pushed up and under it over the decades.
finally, i suggest checking on your heater core. they can stink when they fail. Is there any condensation on the windsheild when its on defrost? does it smell like pancakes (coolant) at all?

you can remove the glove box (3 bolts) no biggy... and remove the blower assembly to take a look inside the housing.... if there's a dead mouse, or a bad heater core, or a bad air conditioner evaporator, etc. etc. etc.

My car has a weed smell in it as well from the PO.....I pull the vents out of the dash and spary Febreeze down into the vents and let it sit for about 10 minutes then start the car and turn it onto max AC and let it idle for about 20 minutes.....if I still smell it, I coat the carpets and under the seats with febreeze as well...3 weeks later and the reefer smell is no more.....Thank God because when you open the door, it slaps you in the face.
