my new rims! (titile changed)

hey all, i know some of you have massive tires without tubbing the wheel wells or other extensive surgery.... ive found that 10.5 is the widest you can go without wheel rubbing (i think)...

does anyone have a complete rear shot of 10.5 width on a 94-98 stang?

or, if you dont have a pic but own 10.5 rims, do they rub on the wheel wells, or do they fit fine?

i have 315's and im not rubbing, but i removed the quad shock and im at stock ride height on the rear.

They fit fine on mine even with the Quad shocks..no rubbing & I am lowered 1.5"

They will fit no problem, only thing you might have to do is flip the quad to gain clearance. Or better yet, get some MM LCA's and remove the quad.

flip the quad... couldnt tell you what that means, lol. i only know that people are telling me they fit with it in stock position.

on another note... i have more wuestions about which rims to buy.

im looking at deep dish 17x10.5 in the back, and no dish 17x9 in the front. does that sound good?

second off, if i buy tires, i cant find sumitomos that match the rear ones, at least in tread pattern. is that a concern?

10.5's fit on mine with sportline springs. but I'm only running 275 tires.

You don't need to match front and rear treads or manufacturers

Flipping the quad shocks is exactly what it sounds like, you unbolt them and flip them over so the large side is facing the other way.

+1 ^ not hard to flip em if you need too, as far as tires just keep em in pairs. ex. front pair, and rear pair. can be different manufacturers. And the rim size is fine 10.5 rear 9 front, is pretty common.

anyone have a write up of how to flip a quad shock? idk where the crap there even at... suspension isnt my thing.

Jesus, just crawl under your car and you will figure it out. Look at your rear end, you will see the normal shocks going up, quad shocks are the sideways ones. Again, unbolt both ends, flip them, rebolt.

It seriously is that easy.

that's the quad shocks.
option is to remove them completely (mine are removed), or unbolt, flip, reinstall

sumitomo 315's, no issues but i'm still at stock ride height also.

Yup, that's them. As COX said you can either flip 'em to gain a little clearance, or remove them. If you remove them, you might get wheel hop, some do some don't just kinda luck of the draw. If you get wheel hop, your best bet would be to get some MM LCA's and that will fix it.

alright, im not the type to be doing burnouts or hard acceleration, (paranoid about breaking things).. so if i do remove them, i shouldnt be running into wheelhop anyways.

Sorry if I sounded harsh but wasn't I right about seeing them as soon as you crawled under there? As you can see they are bolted on each end, unbolt, flip, rebolt, done

cruzin, its cool, i just know that when i touch things they normally getted messed up and and i have to give 'ol dad a call, lol.

i took off my wheel and flipped them an hour ago, no issues. i took pictures and im going to do a write up of how to flip quad shocks.

hopefully i can contribute something to this site instead of just taking up room
