got my new custom grind comp cams camshaft today.

I also talked to the machine shop today, I asked why I didn't have my motor or stroker kit yet since it was only supposed to take a week. The guy said the company they ordered the stroker kit from could not find any of the 383w crankshafts so since they were already almost two weeks late and couldn't find all the parts they upgraded the kit to a 408w stroker for the same price.

Seems a lot of the manufacturers are having issues, we just refunded a guy's money yesterday because we kept getting the run around from the supplier, 4 weeks and no kit, so we'll wait till they have it in stock and try again. But to keep people on hold, that's just stupid.

So I talked to the machine shop today to see if any of the stroker kit parts had come in yet, and see what balance the motor was going to be. Well the guy says I need to bring him a cylinder head? He said they sent the wrong pistons and the only compression ratio pistons they had for the tw head was a 10.1 so now its gonna cost me more because they have to fly cut the piston for the valve relief. Im so pissed I feel like setting the car on fire and calling the insurance company. I payed $1900.00 + $200.00 for a 383 stroker kit with 8.1 or 8 1/2.1 compression for twisted wedge heads I specificly told the guy what heads I had because I knew he would have to get custom pistons. Well then the one week motor project-it was only supposed to take a week for the machine work and the parts to come in! hit a snag they couldn't find the right crank for the 383 so without my permission (not even a phone call) they take it upon themselves to change it to a 408 kit. The only way I found out is because I called to check on the parts myself. Now they got the wrong pistons and I have to pay more for the machine work and have the pistons re-balanced. One more setback and I may call it quits for good. :angry4:

thats ridiculous that the machine shop would do that to you. I had a bad experience with one machine shop locally and have never been back. These guys usually get recommended to other people by previous customers, but lately it seems like they dont care as much about reputation and doing the customer right. hope your build comes along nicely after all this.

Talked to the machine shop today, told them to send the stroker kit back and I will be there when they open tomorrow to get my money and block. I called PROBE INDUSTRIES and got a price on a stroker kit, $1,689 for the 408 stroker probe kit with free balancing and 9.1 compression. Is 9.1 compression good for a turbo motor? I also called the machine shop that has done all of my past headwork he is going to bore, notch, balance, and blueprint my motor for what the other place was going to charge to bore the block, and flycut the pistons.

Intercooled turbo, not going to be as big a deal, just make sure your tuner knows you have higher compression. You can always run a cometic head gasket that is thicker than stock, and get it down to 8.8, and they seal very well. Or you can use the new felpro MLS gaskets are thicker as well. Good luck with it!

9:1 is a big improvement - I'd go even higher with a good tuner/tune - 10:1 minimum.

mmm, turbo... That's going to be an awesome machine when it's finished. I have always been a supercharger guy but after reading more and more turbo build threads I am considering a turbo these days. Plus after hearing one in person, the sound of a turbo v8 is downright intoxicating!

Its custom built by SUPERNATURAL TURBO here in ALABAMA they build turbo's for a lot of the big racers. It has all GTQ internals cant remember the specs. Its a 76mm and he said on my motor it should have no turbo lag so it should be pretty nasty.

Got some new parts to add to the pile waiting to get my eXtreme X forged pistons, and H-beam rods from DSS racing should be here next week so I can take my block and internals to the machine shop.
