Autozone will not read your codes since you have an OBD1 car. They will only know how to do OBDII. You can do the paper clip trick or you can buy a scanner for under $100 that will scan obd1 codes for ya. You might want to check out your balancer, they are common to go on 9495s and can really make your car run like crap.

My car was running like crap on 7/31/06. I had a full tune-up done, still bad. I then had my MAF checked. It was that. Ran like a champ from then on. Check that.

i dono if this is the problem... i dont have alot of 302 experience, but could it be the crankshaft positioning sensor? my uncle's minivan was giving him very simular problems and that was the issue.

i dont know if your car has a CPS, or anything like that... but i thought i would put that out there for the brain-storming-session. :)

also, clean your intake air temp. sensor with MAF sensor cleaner.

do you have a haynes or chilton manuals. they tell you how to pull codes with a paper clip. and also give you the code meanings. you need one anyway if you plan on turning your own wrenches.
you could also be looking at the pip in the dizzy going out. reman dizzy $120 with warentee, replacement pip $20 and you do it yourself.
