i have a 94 gt i just bought with a pretty bad miss...couldnt find anything wrong with it until a started it up in the dark..and every place the plug wires where touching metal you could see spark jump from the wires to the metal.i found this odd because the kid i bought it from said he just replaced them and they did look new. so thinking the wire where junk i replaced them with a set of new taylor wires and they do the same thing..has anyone ever seeen anything like this before..or could i have 2 new sets of junk plug wires??

So the new wires have spark jumping through the insulation?...Are you using spacers in the wires that are cutting through the silicon? I would try to keep them away from metal as much as possible...If there is spark jumping through the wire then I would think there are cracks somewhere...good luck

What type of distributor/ignition system are you using. Stock or aftermarket? 8mm wires? Is the car/battery ground properly? What about the plugs? What kind of plugs are you using?

i have seen a situation where the rotor was a little shorter than it was supposed to be. it caused a laser light show under the hood. not to mention we went through two ignition boxes, two distributers, two coils and mutiple sets of plugs and wires before we got to the root cause. live and learn!

take the cap off, pull the rotor and sit it in the cap. make sure it makes contact with the distributor (center) and the outside contacts of the cap!

the first set of wires where autolite the second set was taylor.. the first plugs where autolite the second set are motorcraft..now i changed the wires for the 3rd time runs alot better going through the gears just still misses at a idle..the timing is at 12 degrees with the spout connecter out...with it in it jumps around about 5 degrees..i am not sure if this is because of the miss or not..i does get a check engine light..if i am doing the test right i come up with codes 12,33,22 anyone know what they mean???

when pulling the codes disreguard the 1st blink. your codes will be 3 digit. ie:178. after all the codes run, the blinks will repeat them selves

Check the spark plugs mine did the same thing after replacing the wires three times the plugs can cause alot of resistance and the spark looks for the closest ground to ground off
