I've been replacing tierods and ball joints of late. Just recently my front end has been squeaking when making turns. My passenger side bushings look fine but are really dried out, now my driver side is much worse. It has bulged out quite a bit. Now here is my issue, I've got the front bushings off and loosend the steering shaft pinch bolt as far as I dare let it go without removing it. I can pull the passenger side almost all the way off but the driver side will not go to far. Applying equal pressure on Both sides from behind doesn't get me anywhere either. It appears that the pinch bolt is still securing on the shaft somehow. That said I wanted to know if anyone else had the same issue.

Never had an issue removing the steering shaft from the rack...use a long screwdriver to pry it off, the shaft is collapsible so it should slide up easily.
