need to rebuild distributor

i can't use the msd distributor i have now with the AEM system i plan on using soon. since i don't have my factory one i bought a used on off ebay. anyone know how to rebuilt one? i just need to swap out the guts,part numbers would be great.

i've seen it done a while ago, but i don't remember the details. i believe the gear was marked to the shaft, then the gear and pin was pressed out. if i remembered right then the internals were swapped and put back together, pressing the pin and gear back on. but i'm not 100 % sure. any help would be great.

I think maybe I should write up a short how-to on this topic. Seems to be a common question.

Yes, essentially all you do is knock out the roll pin, press the gear off, then everything just sort of falls apart.

if you could do a write up that would be great.

but from my understanding is that the gear must be pressed on in the same location, or else it's throws off the timing.
