Alright, I finally got some money to replace my clutch. The car has 138k miles and I'm pretty sure it has the stock clutch. Its still has the stock quadrant and clutch cable. My TOB has been squeeking for a couple of months now and I've been babying it. The rear main seal is also leaking. I am pretty much replacing all the components in the clutch/shifter. Here is the list I have compiled; the asterisk denotes parts I have:

* FRPP TOB
* FRPP pilot bearing
* Ford rear main seal
FRPP King Cobra Clutch set ($295 w/free shipping at Atomic Performance!)
FRPP 50 oz. Iron Flywheel
* Fiore quadrant and firewall adjuster
* LDC freeplay correction kit

Also, I want to replace the clutch cable. I want to use OEM Ford but those are hard to find online. I did find an FRPP cable but its listed for 96-98 (PN M-7553-E302). Will this work on my '95? If not is there any aftermarket cables that you guys recommend? I've had a BBK once. It seemed alright but I have heard bad things about aftermarket cables (breaking, stretching, etc). I want to do this right the first time so I'm not taking any chances on poor quality parts... What do you guys think?

Does that clutch kit come with the flywheel? If not, that price is outrageous. I got my King Cobra, throw out bearing, quadrant, cable and firewall adjuster for just over $200 from UPR Products. Only had it for a week or so, but everything is holding up great and the firewall adjuster is very convenient. Be ready for a left leg workout!

king cobra is a nice clutch for a bolt on car, but check around for better pricing; americanmuscle.com

if you buy a new cable buy the non-adjustable OEM style from maximum motorsports.

I hate aftermarket cables...the stock self adjusting cable is great.

you have a A302 Kit.

The C302 kit has a stronger pressure plate which equals more clamping force.
To my knowledge they still both have the Organic A302 Disc.

Agreed with Lafenatu

A STOCK OEM CABLE and Quadrant works just fine.

Kinda like the Hype where everybody thinks that a OEM Rad can't cool anything. They work just fine as long as everything else in the system is working properly.

Yes, it was a C302 kit. I also bought a new flywheel. Had a bad experience once when I had my '93 GT that I converted from auto to manual with the OEM flywheel so I figured given the mileage and questionable previous owners driving abilities, I just bought a new one. New OEM cable from MM as well. The clutch was the last (known HA!) mechanical issue with my car so I'm pretty excited to get replaced. I've had 2 KC clutches in various Mustangs and I liked them both very much.

Avoid Atomic Performance

Also Nitro Stang Racing sells the KC for 199 shipped http://www.nitrostangracing.com/nitrostang/PMClutch.html
I just spoke with the guy on the phone (Sunday at 9 mind you) and he said he sells KC in a plain white box (genuine KC valeo, 150% same as the ones in a FR box). You save $$$ by it not being in the FR box.

I agree! I went through 3 aftermarket cables.2 adjustable granatelli ones, 1 of which had 2 strands of wire left and the rest had snapped/seperated, and 1 NAPA brand cable, which became sticky when it got water-soaked from a huge storm we had. I bought an OEM Ford one and haven't looked back! MUCH smoother and easier to push than the other cables were. As for the rad thing, My stock rad has help decent temps to my HCI 302, but in 35*C+ days, it starting running pretty warm, I will probably buy a 2 core fluidyne whenever I decided to SC it.

why buy a new flywheel? Why not just get your stock one re-surfaced? it's alot more cost effective and ur still keeping your oem stuff.

Its not about keeping OEM stuff really... I just don't like surprises. After owning this car for over a year, I'm not taking any chances because of its unknown past. I would rather shell out a little bit more money for a brand new part than risk reusing a part that somebody screwed up. Basically I don't trust the previous owner(s) to have done anything right LOL.

oh ok.I can understand that. I'm the same way. lol. good luck with it man. If you didn't live 6-8hours away I'd be willing to come help you do everything and knock it out. thats a long drive though just to help someone with a clutch job. lmao

If you do any type of racing, re-surfacing a flywheel is stupid. Taking metal off makes it more prone to warped, which could cause some clutch issues. I replaced my flywheel when I re-did my engine, added security knowing that it's been replaced when it has lots of miles.
