Well if she's not complainin go with the wagoneer!! That's really cheap. What motor is in it? ^ The old toyota p/u with the sfa will run forever them motors are pretty solid. The drivetrain was pretty stout too for being a mid size import truck.

But a little ranger might not be too bad.. And if you get bored with it down the road you can v8 swap them pretty easy...
But IMO, based from all the vehicles i see at work, I wouldn't buy a jeep, or at least one with the 4.0 straight 6...
the inline 6 4.0 is one of the most reliable engines ever, and it makes great power (unless its in a jeep grand cherokee, they are just way to heavy for the 4.0)

I was going by personal experiences/close friends experiences... I personally know 3 people with 4.0 liter equiped Jeeps.. A guy i work with
takes very good care of his 98 Cheerokee, oil changes every 3mo/3,000 mi, got it from his parents with 25,000 mi on it, and it now has around
96K and smokes like a chimney and still has the imfamous exhaust leak from the manifold, after it's been changed once. Another guy i know
with a 96 Wrangler also takes very good care of his Jeep (actually works at a "Quick Lube" place) and just driving down the highway everything
fine, then all of a sudden the oil pump went out and before he could pull over to the side, his engine locked up. Not to mention every
single one I see has a cracked Exhuast Manifold, oil leaks out the wazzo, and even with regular oil changes- burns oil. But everyone has their
own opinions about everything, that just happens to be mine.

I had to use screw drivers to keep the drivers and passenger windows up. It would have been a great mud truck, but I needed a tow vehicle so I sold it and have no regrets.
I think a Jeep with big wheels would be a bad idea, I really do expect gas prices to go back up over $3.00 a gallon, maybe even back to $4.00+. At that point 9mpg would totally suck, unless it was play only.

I am some what taking the MPG into consideration and thats why i haven't gone 100% into buying a Wagoneer but it would see about 4 days a week of action during the Winter as my cold weather DD then once Spring breaks it would probably get used 1 or 2 times a week in combination with the Mustang.
I'd put about 100-150 miles a week on it max so while 10MPG sucks it wouldn't kill me too bad.
I'd drive it while i was finishing the Mustang over the Winter then next Summer i would actually pull the 360 and rebuild that with higher compression and a Edelbrock H/C/I package. That should improve the MPG's by @ 2MPG and bump HP considerably. The AMC 5.9 has low CR's so maybe thats why they are slugs plus the Ford Carb is supposed to be a POS.
I think rotating it with my Mustang during the week and driving the 09 Escape on the weekends/trips wouldn't be that bad. Now i just have to find one with minimal rust and the right price![]()
