IDK if this is the same one, but this is why they did it.
it was the most compeditive group. simple.
the high 9 group had some very skilled pedelers and guys who were too itchy on the jump. i believe i heard one guy say if they were to go high 9's, out of the 16 they had chosen, only 8-9 of them were running consestant and treeing right. the others either jumped, or ran wierd consistancies. One of the final 16 for the 9 second class, actually ran an 8.xx on the third qualifiying run. yeah, way to sandbag the first couple runs.
the runners in the 10 second class ran within .1 seconds of their original times for all 3 runs, they were all fender to fender at the finish lines for all 3 rounds, and were treeing consistantly every pass.
so, what would you rather watch, fender to fender high 10 second racing? Or, racers jumping the tree and others getting disqualified for running high 8's in a high 9 class?
