Started reworking the sub configuration last weekend. Here's the beginning, just a base box I built with a 5 degree angle.

2 P2D2 Punch 10s going in there, along with 250watt prime fosgate amp. Should have it mostly installed this weekend, more pics later. The rest of the system will stay existing, Infinity Reference separates in the front, along with coaxial Infinitys in the back, powered by my Alpine head unit. May have to power up the mids and tweets now though, the head may not have enough power to over play the subs.

I'm replacing my single Orion 12" I had in there for 12 years, can't wait to hear how it all comes out.

Got it all installed yesterday and this morning. I forgot what a whipping doing installs are. At 42, its not as easy on the back as it was when I was 18.

I still haven't tuned it all up yet, I still need to mess with gain levels, the level controller that you can plug in on the amp, and then other tweaks to my crossover. I am very happy with it. They hit overall a bit better than my single Orion XTR 12 (that was 14 years old), so it made a fine replacement. Definitely sounds better on hard rock and metal tracks than the older sub did.

Still to add (notice blank space on the box) another amp for the mids/tweets. The radio's default power is probably not enough to handle the subs now, at louder volumes.

Anyway, its in!

First a shot of the interior (soon to be black leather seats and new gray carpet)

My older, yet still favorite head unit I've ever had.

The box I made at a 5 degree angle on the front, wrapped in black vinyl.

Here's the amp. At some point, I'll add a facade' that will cover everything box forward, except the amp.

And the box from the back seat view.

Thx guys.

I fired them forward because I usually have a bunch of stuff back there, when i go to work and what not and didn't want to puncture a cone or something. I agree with you guys, optimally I would have fired them backwards. They hit REALLY hard, I'm blown away with woofer/amp technology and how far its come over the last 12-14 years. I didn't stitch the vinyl, I just did an edge blend, best as possible considering most of it wouldn't be seen. A black marker is your best friend when blending edges. :)

I think I have about 8 man hours in it, including me researching a remote wire connection (from the radio that turns on the amp) that was shorting out on my steering column. When I eventually put in the leather seats and replace the carpet, I'm going to run entirely new wire. I just decided to use my existing stuff for now, even though I had issues with that one wire.

I tuned it a little more yesterday, trying to find that right balance that works out between the varying genre's of music I listen to.

The best part, buying online, and building my own box, I think I'm only in about $250 for subs, 250w amp, and supplies.

I hear ya when I have a system in my trunk then trunk becomes in un used that's what I always used the back seat for. Now my car has a rear seat delete. Regardless that's a nice Loooking enclosure you made man.

Looks good, I like how the vinyl looks. Would you mind sharing the dimensions on the box? That is my next step, and I've been playing with RF's box wizard but I'm struggling to get some round numbers to work with.

I think (trying to remember) - side view - 11" bottom - 13" tall, 9" at the top, 32" wide, then 13.5 or close to it on the face.

I had the same issue, I was looking for .75 to .80 and ended up at around .80 per sub. Hits extremely hard, after more tweaking I was really able to pull more bass out of it.

I probably could have gone with grills, I debated about facing out, but in the end just didn't want things in the trunk that could be damaged by stuff I needed to put back there. We've been going to alot of car shows lately, so the wife and kids have been piling in the ride in the back seat, thereby requiring trunk space. Its one of the reasons I swapped out my box too, the last one was considerably larger and limited my trunk space.

Thanks a lot, I will try out those numbers and see where it gets me.

Thanks man!!! Appreciate the comments.

Two of those wheels came off my Dad's 98, and then I bought the other two via craigs and ebay. It totally changed the way the car looked. Always hated my stock 16 stars, but wanted to stay with true stock Ford rims (even though the years don't match).

Funny you should mention the spacers, I just started reading up on that on the forum last week. I might consider that when I start doing all my suspension work. :)
