correct but you know as well as me that they run the minimum awg wire needed from the factory. By better I really meant bigger but that is often teh case unless you just want to say clean the terminals.

You guys are on the right track.

Yes, when I'd switch tracks on a cd or on my phone, loud boom clunk sound. totally wierd.
They went through the system last night and found the problem.

The Brand NEW, blue top optima battery!!!! isn't grounded internally??! WTF!
They switched it over to the other battery, and it works great! guess it was trying to ground through the RCA's between tracks.

So they're tuning it for me and building some enclosures today - for the 6.5's in the L and R side cup holder area.
Should pick it up tomorrow.

No shovel Chris, tablespoon.
I got all this stuff from a friend at dealer cost, thank you Steve, my Dad paid more than half, since it's his boat as well, and I installed it myself. that's how poor guys like us do it.

ttocs, it's a kenwood deck.
I'll get some photo's guys, 2morrow.

Good point ttocs,
The deck connections are into the "stock" harness. i'll take a peek at where that ground goes.
but they did say that almost all the static is gone, so it sounds like it should be good. we shall c tomorrow.

I have been hearing more and more problems with optima's then I have been hearing people say they are still happy with them. I went with kinetik when I upgraded to my dual battery system to support my future stereo.

Whellp I picked up the boat.
they got it all checked out, connections checked and built me these 2 enclosures for the sides.

They all said it sounded really good.
So i'm glad that's done,
here's a few shots.

forgot the shots. Was it the battery after all? Sounds strange honestly as if there was that bad of a ground the amps should not power up but dunno...

Sizing the pics now.
the installer in charge explained it better to me.
I didn't have the 2 battery grounds connected, and the amp power/ground was hooked to the "stock"battery, and the amps were grounded to the Optima, so he said since they were running to separate grounds, it caused feedback, or a voltage draw or something like that through the pre amps....

oooooooooooooooooooooooo see now that makes sence. If they were grounded seperatly if one battery was slightly higher/lower then the other the potential difference(difference in voltage between then) will cause lotsa problems.

Do they not like to trim the ends off of wire ties or just took the pic too early? I forget now where do you live? Did this all get done in time to drain the tank and store it or are yous somewhere warm enough to enjoy it?

I'm in UT, and it's getting cold...
So i'll have to take it south to Lake Powell or Lake Mead or something,
or buy a dry suit!

work b4 play, story of my life.

All in all i'm happy with how it turned out, have to finish tying up some stuff, doing the lights and want to change up the instrament panel a bit.
The system sounds great.

That must have been a tough wait! My buddy is a big stereo guy and he's got some plans for his pontoon. I'll have to post up when he gets started.

looking back at the picks, one thing I didn't notice last time is all the bare wire you have showing right at the connection to the amp. Something falls between the wire and the amp chassis and you are going to smoke your amp. Take the wire out, cut a 1/4" off and then put it back in so that you can't see any wire.
