Gears are really strong it's hard to mess up gears its the other parts that get beat up posi clutches and shit like that .. Yes I've seen people break spider gears but it's not nearly as common as blowing some posi clutches so the car only does doughnuts to the left . When I install gears in customer cars I ask them can you do doughnuts both ways ? If the answers no then they usually always pay extra for some clutches . There cheap anywyas But on a low milage car I'd assume they'd be fine Cus that car looks clean

I didn't literally mean breaking them or anything in the rear end, I meant abusing the new found acceleration. Sorry for the confusion.

And everything you said is true as well.

I tend to think 3.73s with a manual and 4.10s with an auto.

4.10s are a little short for a manual IMO and less its a straight drag car.

ill be going with 3.73's, i still drive the highways a good bit and I dont want to kill my gas mileage. I'll be making the trek down to mustang week and although its a little over 300 miles for me, 4.10's would make that trip suck haha.

I really don't think 4.10s are going to be that big of a difference on the highway in terms of MPG and whatnot. But I never recorded it and I don't think anyone's swapped between 4.10s and 3.73s to have real world experience. Just saying.

ive just always heard that 4.10s will be too much for a daily driven manual but ive got mixed returns on that. Alot of people are telling me that ill wish I had 4.10s after a while but im not sure. They are the same price its just a matter of it being worth it

Gears are nice but I'm going to go against the grain and say lowering springs and a short shifter. If you do decide to go with gears my vote goes to 3.73s. If "I" were to do it all over again I'd go with 3.55s best of both worlds IMHO

My brothers auto 2000gt has 4.1s and my car has 3.73s. His RPM's are like 300-400 higher.

So when I'm at 2500 on the highway he is close to 3k it feels like. It depends on your future plans for the car but it is a noticeable difference on the highway.

If you don't plan on ever doing boost or anything the 4.10s would be fine if you like those rpms. Imo it wasn't worth the gain to go with 4.10s so T did 3.73 especially considering the 4.10s would probably just contribute to more wheel spin down low since my car is a 99% street car.

Justin you must have auto trans for your RPMs to be that high am I right? and at what speeds are we talking? Manuals def do not rev as high as autos with gears. On the Highway going 75 right about 2500RPM with 4.10s

With the higher gears the faster you go will make the most difference, anything over 80 is pretty high but if you keep it under its not more 200-300 rpms over the 3.73s max

I made the mistake of going with 3.73s on my first mustang, I swapped them out to 4.10s after not even a month and loved it.

not at all, they actually made my car drive smoother lol. I guess at 75 MPH with 3.27s my car would vibrate more then at a higher rpm with gears and have less drone. but to each his own.

Yea at 80mph my car might be at 2500 so it's great on the highway and I do 300+ mile one way road trips regularly

If you drive on the high way a lot, like me, 3.73. If you are in the city more and it doesnt really matter, 4.10s.

Most people see an improvement in city mileage because its easier for the car to get up and move.
