Up front I just wanted to share this so everyone can have a cleaner cockpit I'm not selling anything or making any money here -

This company modernridesdesign.com makes these little 3d printed usb jacks that you can plug into the back of your aftermarket radio to put a nice clean usb port in your new edge. It's only a pass-through for a port that's on your radio, if you want it to be a charging plug you'd have to put a usb power supply back there, which isn't hard to do.

Also yes I know my wife's car is dusty.

They also make a little bracket that mounts on the center bezel and you can put whatever magsafe or quad lock thing you want on there so you don't have to carry your phone in your crotch or a cup holder. This one fits 94-04 Mustangs.

And yeah mine's dusty too... it's been sitting for 3 months in the garage :(

The phone mount is useful but for a lot of factory 01-04 gts the usb mount won’t work. It’s a good design nonetheless.

and for the DIY people, I made one just like that years ago and stuck a mount on it. It is not hard to bend a piece of thin metal into a U shape and mount it to the under-dash.

My head unit has two USB outlets. So I plug my phone in when using CarPlay. I let it sit in between the console and e-brake. There’s also plenty of usb charging accessories that plug into your cigarette lighter, but most older SN95s have constant power here, so even back in the days of Nokia and mobile phones, anything you leave plugged in, will draw power, even if you aren’t charging your phone. Was caught with a dead battery many of times back in the day.

I don't really care if anyone looks at this and doesn't want it, they're not my products and I'm not here to defend them. I just see people throw their phone in a cup holder or balance it on their knee or literally hold it in their hand to read texts and navigate - this is a finished product that takes a couple minutes to install and then you've got a nice clean answer to a problem that didn't exist when the car was built.

Agreed. Many of us have had our SN95s since the 90s, and as such, have already discovered what best fits our needs. The attached pic shows you how my set up is completely pointless to most everyone else who already found something else. And some new members here, may have a completely stock set up, and don’t know what their options even are, so your thread, along with the replies, is useful to them.
