incase your bottle pressure releif valve pops, its a tube that directs the nitrous to outside of the trunk. because we have fold down seats and no actual firewall between the trunks and the cabin you need one.

I have never nor have I ever seen anyone catch flack from tech for having their bottle mounted in the trunk and haveing fold down seats. In a street car, they're not goingn to look that closely. If you want peace of mind, sure, go for it...but no you don't need to get one if that bottle is in the trunk. Read the NHRA Rulebook...CLOSELY.

doesnt the rule book require at least .025 inch thick metal plating between the driver and the bottle?

I know at my track with out a blow down tube, the bottle mounted to the sheet metal and the line ran out side of the car, they will not let you run. and they go by NHRA rules only.

I guess it depends what track you are at, i have seen a tech inspector tell a person to remove their bottle from their trunk because it had no blow down tube, and that was a basically stock mustang.

NHRA rule books are just like any "law." Its all up to the individuals interpretation at the time really. I've never been nor have I personally seen anyone get booted to told to remove the bottle for having it in the trunk with seats installed.
