Man those old bugs could be fast as hell with very minor mods from what I recall. 200hp got you in the 12s or 13s
Buddy of mine had a nice '55 bug back in HS. Unfortunately, he got in a 25mph wreck on a rainy day and it ruined the car.

Very true. Never dynoed mine, but 14.45 is my best in the 1/4 mile and 8.98 is my best in the 1/8th. Very fun on the street as you can imagine when a Camaro pulls up and wants to play. No power adders here, just a hot rod motor. Stroked crank, bigger pistons and cylinders, and massive headwork fed by dual carbs.
