I currently reside in Conroe , Texas where we are required to pass emissions for annual inspection. I have noticed that many seem to run off-road exhausts and I was curious to know if there is some kind of trick to passing emissions or does it have to be swapped with a catted set up every year to pass inspection?

Um i dont know what the rules are down there, but i live in cali and are smog sucks we have to have all 4 cats on the car i had 2 on my bassani x and they wouldnt pass cause i didnt have 4. I thought most states though you have to have cat to pass smog.

Yeah it depends on the state. In NY if your car is '95 or older they just have to be visible. On newer cars I think as long as the CEL isnt on it'll pass also. It says right on the Bassani site that their catted X pipe does not pass California emissions. The only one they make that's 50 state legal is for 05-07 GTs.

I'm from lubbock, Texas. and to pass with my O/R i talked to ALOT of ppl and finally found a place that didn't care... you just have to look and find, also if you talk to the places some will say absolutially no and some will say yes. just look/ talk/ and find out... best way.. if not, and you no longer have your stock i have my stock h from a 97 i can lend/sell for cheap you if close enough

Its similar here, my car wont pass a "cat test" anymore [no cats :) ] so i have to ask a friendly tester, just happens to be a friends garage.
I still kept the standard pipes in case.

Oh, you look @ mine and it looks legal. My guy cut off the back 2 cats and he gutted the front 2. It looks fine if you think there was only 2, I guess. Where I live, there is no concern of getting in trouble though!

all they do for mine is plug in a diagnostic thing into my port and off i go

i guess as long as theres no codes showing up it passes, so if u go catless just get a set of mil eliminators

I appreciate all of your feed back.

I went the safe route and opted for the Bassani catted x-pipe.
