oil catchcan

I've made a oil catch can and was wondering what type of filler material was used? I know it is steel wool but don't know what type or size. can someone point me in the right direction please, might a picture help? please help

no I mean what type of steel wool is used, like can I use Brillo Pads or ScotchBrite flat thick wool pads or the thick round mesh steel pads?
