:icon_salut: Hello guys!

I've bought a 95 GT like 3 months ago and this is my first post in these forums. Hopefully u can help me

The car I bought was at a reasonable price but the milage is not the best ~130k. Anywway, I wanna get the motor in shape and at the same time gain some power. Ive already done a FULL tune-up and seems to be working much better, but also, I want to replace the internals so that the motor feels like new.

My questions are:
If i go for a stroker(347) kit with forged internals(pistons, crank, rods) and gapless rings will that restore compression in all cylinders? Will the engine feel like it's brand new?

What's the difference between pre-fit, file-fit, and total seal gapless rings?

One last one, Will the motor not respond well to "Blower Dish 1.175 CH -20.1cc =8.91:1" pistons if I am not blown yet? cuz in a future I wanna put a blower on it but be 100% ready for it beforehand

THANKS A LOT!

What kind of heads are you gonna run? a -20.1 cc dish seems huge for it to come out to 8.9:1 CR, I guess it all depends on your CC size?

For the 347 if you got the $$$ I'd go with the AFR 185's. I used ported GT40's cause I'm poor... :crybaby2: lol

Although I don't think it'll matter much after the turbo. :headbang: the stock block will be whats holding me back at that point. Not gonna happen till next year though. :sad5:

Someone else should chime in that knows more about calculating the CR with that dish and some 185's...

I don't wanna end up wasting money by doing things twice. That's why I wanna do things right the first time. Will putting the 347 stroker kit make my engine healthy. The block seems to be ok, and I don't wanna change it anytime soon. I am aiming for 350/400 whp on a reliable setting. I want it to last at least 15k-20k miles.

Am i doing things right?

Yes the motor will be rebuilt at that piont with the kit and new heads and if it doesn't last 20,000 NA then someone did something wrong. Just be aware that it'll cost alot more than what you think it will... At least thats how it went for me, after parts + labor it's about 5,000-6,000 dollars for EVERYTHING. In my head I thought it would be cheaper but the little shit adds up quick.

Labor won't be a problem. I have a garage and some friends that know a LOT about 5.0s. They told me that they would be glad to help me in exchange for some beers

Yeah I don't have a garage or I woulda done it myself, :BangHead: I couldn't see me doing a swap in the gravel in the woods :tard: the labor cost is like 1200 bucks for the swap.

Thanks, that's 2 of my questions answered. Anyone else can help me with this one?

What's the difference between pre-fit, file-fit, and total seal gapless rings?

on a 347 i would go with afr 205s unless you need to worry about emmissions. start with a new block as well... i prefer the boss.

don't worry about the rings let the machine shop worry about that as it really depends on the pistons you use and also if you really do put a blower on it in the future.

9.2:1 is the compression i would shoot for even with the blower as long as you don't run 20 or more lbs of boost @ 1600 or more cfm on pump gas.

my motor is 8.8:1 with -26cc pistons and 56cc heads

a new block will set me back like 1k more, which i could use for my suspension. I've heard in many places that the stock block can handle up to about 500whp. I want a decent setting but I am not planning on changing the block for a long time unless I see a serious problem with it.

With my 350/400 whp goal don't u think its gonna be an overkill to get a new block? Heck, now that I'm thinking even the blower might be an overkill...

The main reason I'm gonig for a stroker kit first is because I want the engine to be healthy first. Probably gonna do heads aswell. I don't want to be one of those guys that puts a blower in a 100k+ motor on stock internals and blows the shit out of it.

What do u think is the best for a reliable 350/400 hp N/A or blown? I want some decent torque down low.

If you want 350HP, punch it out to a 306 with a cast crank, rods and a set of decent forged pistons and put a blower on the car and be done. No need for a 347...
