Well, after i got into the engine bay doin some clean up all i could think of for coloring is black... Well... Started to paint a lot of the engine black... well most of it actually... Oil pan, heads, motor itself... The bracket that holds my CAI that always used to rust... Going to paint my water pump and timing cover black... And i picked up these valve covers...

Well then i got to thinking about my cobra intake and lower intake... How much of a PITA would it be to powercoat them black... But where it says cobra and has the snake powder coat that red? Any ideas? Or anyone with powdercoating experience tell me i am way off on my idea?

It's not that hard, it will just take a lot of patience to carefully mask all the lettering so it doesn't get powdercoated. Either than or you can just powdercoat all of it and try to sand off the coating on the lettering.

Careful with too much black though - you don't want the whole motor to sort of "blend together" into a big black blob. It's good to have something to break up all the black.

Well, i got red plug wires and a red distributor... but yea i see what you're sayin... I might keep the intake like it is and see how it looks. I just like black because its easy to make "look" clean. :D

Yep, I understand going for the "sanitary" look. That's what I was shooting for with the motor I built for my notch. I'm satisfied with how it came out.

black and red together is a gorgeous combo.

a little bit of shiny never hurt to have in there

maybe like get some stainless screws and what not.
the more i think about it
the better it gets

if you dont want to, its your thing ha
like paul said, you can coat it and then lightly sand it off, i haver done that before to make 2 tone things.

however, in this instance i think some very skilled taping would make the best results.

loving the valve covers

If you want to make stuff look better, sand everything down before you coat it. That will make the finish much smoother and everything look nicer. I did that on everything on my motor.

I need to look around and see if I can find them. However, with the valve covers you posted above - you won't have to clearance anything inside, but you may have to clearance the front of the passenger valve cover to clear the alternator.

Black and red goes nicely together! more black than red of course, but I think it'd look nice.
