Over torqued?

So I got some tubular control arms from my brothers car yesterday and man it made a huge difference. My concern is that we were mounting them and had all four arms in the car with all the bolts piloted and I had to shit. So I go inside handle business and when I come out they are tightening the last lower arm. They wrenched it as hard as the possibly could. I'm assuming that's far tighter than it should be. The arms bushings are squeaky as hell. I'm wondering if there could be damage in the future because they are over tight. Also if they are should I just break them loose and use a torque wrench to set them correctly or would I have to pry open the torque boxes a little?

Eurethane are squeaky and the metal sleeve inside the control arm bushing. Should stop it from over tightening. I always add some grease to the bushings

I thought so too but I'm talking he put some serious torque on it. I mean as much as physically possible. Also the bushings in the differential ears are shot so I need to replace them. I need to know what's the best performing bushings setup to run. All spherical on the axle and poly at the chasis? Also what's the life expectancy of spehirical bushings?

MM suggests keeping the OEM rubber bushings in the pumpkin ears. I have a pair of used prothyne bushings if you'd like them.

also, i'd take the bolts out, inspect for damage, lube the bushings, and re-assemble to TQ settings. repair damage as needed.

Yeah I've read that from mm too but I spoke with Sam Strano and he did make the point that although the torque boxes are weak that poly bushings will take more force to articulate but shouldn't harm the boxes. What do you want for those ploy pumpkin bushings?

Also the arms have lube fittings to lube them but should I also pop them out of the shells to re lube? Also what's the best lube for them just high temp moly grease?

That horse cum is what came with my urethane front arm bushings. How used are those poly units?

losen all the bolts, support the rear end with jack stands so the suspension is loaded, then tighten them back up.

The torque matters less than tightening while the suspension is loaded does.

werent on my car a year... the most problems they got is the horse cum attracts dirt, so they are dirty as hell.

I dunno if I need the tool. I have a full machine shop at my disposal so we should have something to get it done unless it's a specialized kind of thing?

its not specialized like... a ford-certified-something or other.

if you have a couple of big-ass sockets you dont mind taking to a welder and grinder, than no need.

they are two peices of pice with caps on one end and a bolt that goes through them. like when you use a socket to press out u-joint kinda thing...

nah. they are huge (they have to fit over the bushings, remember) they are like 2.75" diameter... and 1/2" thick. you really have to crank on them! lol.

$30.00 tool rental.
$5.00 for bushings.
$10.00 for shipping (USPS flat rate box)
$30.00 return upon return of tool.

thats $23.00 +s/h bushings for only $15.00 shipped! what a deal!!!
