I want to spray my gas tank cover black. But as everyone knows there are those silver straps. What do you guys do with those. Has anyone ever sprayed that as well or do you just leave it as is. I was thinking just spray it down with a silver, but I'm not sure if that would look good.

Also, what are some things I should do for prep. Do I need to sand it down or anything?

If you guys have pics please feel free to post it up. I would love to see it.

Sanded and painted the cover and straps on my 00 GT then realized you cant see it unless you are lying on the ground behind the car so I was the only one who ever saw it

thorco3 showed how to polish them but said that because of the metal it would not last long.

Just stop lookin at them.

I was thinking of just painting the straps black. I'm going to leave it the nasty unpolished silver I have now because it will just oxidize over the winter anyway.

I should just stop looking at it. I just feel like it would complete the rear more.

I painted the tank and the straps flat black. Looks good both ways, good thing MUSTANGER* posted a picture with the straps lookin sharp. You can check it out both ways. I tried to make a picture showing mine from a previous picture. Not very clear but you can see it from a distance I guess. Good luck with it!
