I did my 99 cobras in black. Realy all you need to do is scuff them real good just get the clear coat off, then clean them, mask off the tires, spray light even coats and buy a gloss black and maybe some clear too.
When you say gloss and clear does that come in a spray can??

Yes you can get both in spray cans. Get the paint from a paint store, not wal-mart. You want quality paint it will take the punishment better.

ALEERT ALERT ALERT!!!!
A easy way to mask off your tires because I know tape didnt stick to my tires, is to get a pack of index cards, put them inbetween the lip of the rims and the tires. Make sure you dont have any gaps in the cards

And btw I think your car would look better with the rims black and the gas cap blue, maybe a billet painted to match. The rims would be only temporary I hope.

no sanding, did it just as i described. and it only cost me like $12... $6 for blue painters tape and $6 for a can of wheel paint from Autozone. you might want to get two cans though, i was pushing my limits with only one.

if you put clear on it, it will turn to gloss. my prostars are painted with the matte and then a clear coat over it.

I did my old stockers like this last summer...just cleaned them, masked off the lip, and painted:

I wish I never sold them...they would make perfect winter wheels...I might have to buy another set...
