you doing it yourself?

it's just removing all that stuff on the top of the motor. you could go either way. :santa_smiley:

GO ahead and do it now, kinda backwards, but it will still be a nice upgrade.

I wouldnt do it...Your intake flows so bad up top that it probably wouldnt really do alot...

Personally I would wait and do it at the same time.

id probably just wait and do it all at once. sorry to hijack but do you need to take off the intake manifold to do cams?

id do it now, the intake manifold isnt really in the way, so if u do it now, it wont be a problem... get some extra hp...

Realisticly, I wonder what the PI cams would do on a npi motor with npi intake... ? I know up top that it wouldn't do much but the npi shines on low rpm and isn't the pi cams good for lower rpm's? just wondering.... What you guys think?

prob not much. and i dont think the PI cams make that much of a positive difference on the bottom end. for me, they shine the most in the top end, where the NPI cams die because the PI cams have a slightly higher lift. because of the restrictive NPI manifold, i really doubt the cams will have that much of an effect on the car at all. dont get me wrong, it will make a difference, but not noticable like everyone says when talking about PI cams (Because the NPI intake manifold)

I installed PI cams prior to installing a PI intake about a year after and was definately worth installing alone IMO. The NPI intake is in not in the way of changing the cams out and can stay in place. I found that the PI cams were a nice upgrade over the NPI cams everywhere in the rev range, but even more so up top. The NPI intake was designed for better lower end, so when I put on the PI intake, I lost a little tq, but gained hp on the upper end.

thats what i figured, i just dought that its that bad b/c then there would be no reason or improvement from buying aftermarket npi cams.

I belive that the PI cams are one of the best mods for
the 96-98 npi cars. With the PI intake included you can
see gains of 35 rwhp or more with a tune.
I had the PI cams in in my old mustang
and liked them because you are able to rev higher.

So you had just the pi cams? if so how much did it give you?

My '98 5sp. dyno'd at 222 rwhp with PI cams, catted X and pulleys as the major mods. Starting with ~195 rwhp, that's a difference of ~27rwhp. I would attibute 1/2 the gain to the pi cams which would put it at somewhere between 12-15 rwhp for them by themselves.

you got a lemon :*(

naw its fast, i've out run a couple 5.0 gt's with 5 speeds a couple autos. ? I don't see that as a lemon. Well i do know that people can make a dyno say whatever they want it to... plus mine was on a mustang dyno not a dynojet.
