hey all
i have a 97 GT and am about to start buying all the parts i need to do a PI head swap. im going to be getting PI romeo heads (those are the 01-04 heads right?), comp or hitech cams and edelbrock intake manifold. i plan on doing the swap in my garage, so what am i getting myself into? i feel as long as i follow the steps and triple check everything i should be fine. what do you guys think? any advice from someone who has done the same or similar job would be awesome

thanks

the hardest part is timing in my opinion. other then that just be paitent, you can do it with handtools

and grab the ford racing headchange kit and you should be good on hardware.

with your PI heads, cams and intake what gains did you get afterwards? like 270 rwhp and 290 torque?

slow and steady. be ready to be out of a car for a while. although the pros on this sight might be able to do it in a weekend, if you are asking how hard its going to be i doubt you've done it. lol. take your time. do your homework on your cams...

i personally suggest dropping the fan, the radiator (you need to drop the coolant anyways, might as well take the radiator out to give you clearance anyways,) and the expansion tank.

the headswap kit from Ford racing is a Must... it will help out more than one would think.

take your time. espacially on the timing.

it may also help to drop your motor. and hold it up with a jack. its easier tahn it sounds and it allows you to raise and lift the motor on demand.

Get a Lokar flexible dipstick tube. I didnt, and regret it. I broke two of the ford OEM ones..The 60 bucks is worth it.

Make sure to change your oil 3+ times during the swap before you go out and drive it, to get the coolant out of the oil that you will drop into the oil pan from removing the heads.

Take your time on the timing, very very crucial part of the swap.
