a nice set of naturally aspirated cams would help the compression do its magic. a basic gasket match port/polish on the intake and exhaust side will help them flow even better. the rough casting on them are nasty. if you plan to keep it N/A, flat top pistons would utilize the compression ratio the best. i also recommend to upgrade the fuel pump if it doesnt have it done. i think thats a nice setup.

Mine will be gasket matched, but it will stop there.

also what about the valves and springs...anything you guys suggest?

I would suggest calling modular headshop. Nick will hook you with with everything you need and he does porting and all that too.

or call ron at fox lake he knows his stuff. get the heads ported and poilished BUT if you plan on changing pistons be very careful of ptv with flat tops and whatever cam you use.... could end up causing issues later on

Good advice, but if you call Fox Lake or Modularheadshop, they should be able to tell you the limits you can go. or use play doh to check the ptv clearance.

I just had Modular Head Shop (Nick McKinney) do the motor in my 97 vert. He used a 02 PI block with 4v pistons(higher compression) then P&P my NPI heads along with stage 2.5 Bullet cams and a tune. Already had the PI intake on it. Needless to say I am a very happy man. It ended up making about 275hp. Nick does great work and is great to work with. Check him out at http://www.modularheadshop.com/
