PI Intake/Cam swap still the best?

Just wondering, is it still the general consensus around here that a PI intake and PI cam swap from a 99-04 is the best bang for the buck for pre-99 SN95s? I know there's a sticky in this section that still references this, but it seems to me that a lot of advice seems to be moving slightly away from this now... just curious.

Unless you can afford the Trick Flow heads. I see nice deals on P&P'd PI heads from like Fox Lake etc for @$1200 all the time.

gotta agree, i say gears or PI swap is best bang for the buck still. As bob said, you can even grab great deals for worked up PI heads, I had a hook up, but I know I paid less than $1000 for my stage 3 PI heads from MMR

Thanks guys. I have gears, I just wanted to make sure that PI intake and PI cams were still the suggested upgrade route for cheap(ish) power. I can't afford heads right now, so I think that's out. I was going to get the livernois intake kit, but they've been "out of stock" for several months now, so I might get the ebay kit, and then see if I can get the cams from someone in the classifieds I guess...
