To keep it short and simple, I want to budget build a motor that will be able to make and handle 500-600 hp...
heres a basic run down of what I was thinking...

teksid block
cobra crank
forged rods and pistons
npi heads home ported
a set of blower cams
pi intake (already have)
and a supercharger...

now my question is, what are a good set of rods and pistons to handle my goals, and not break the bank, and whats a good set of blower cams that have good performance qualities, but also have a intimidating lumpy sound, I know I know its not about the sound, but I like the lumpy cam sound.. was looking at mhs stage 2 npi blower cams, and hp 292's...should i replace the valve springs?

ALSO I dont want to just slap these parts in and reuse all the old bearings and stuff, what should I replace all the old stuff with?

thanks for the help..im not as good with 4.6's as 5.0s but I like that the blocks are much stronger and mpg is better, so im trying to work with the modular motor.

Sound like you are on the right track buddy. I would just look at MMR and look for them to build you a forged short block. The teskid is a really good starting point. I would just search around and see what people are doing. I have a 2v and I will possibly be going MMR to build my short block for either my future kenne bell, vortech. Good luck buddy

Well I dont mind getting the parts from them, but i'd rather put it together myself, i want to learn how to do that on a 4.6, plus their shortblocks arent cheap! Anyone have suggestions on a great blower cam with some lump to it?

Hop on corral.net and go to the modular for sale section. When I did my build that site was amazing, just anything you wanted you could pretty much find on there fairly priced as well.

CMS and Crower Blower cams pick up great HP and sound great. I'm sure the MHS are equally as good but I don't know anyone running them so can't tell you first hand.
