Predator performance tune on a stock 2003 GT
Took the car out a run, brought it back, `tuned` it with my spangly Diablosport Predator.

As the advert says `unleash the beast within`. Even on a stock car the site says ...... " Feel the face ripping power of DiabloSport's Mustang Predator tuner! This tuner is adds 15-20 REAR WHEEL Horse power to stock Mustang GT and V6 Applications by modifying spark, fuel, and transmission functions. Increased drivability will be seen across the entire RPM band, not just the low end! "

Took it out again. My verdict on my new arrival?

I didn`t really expect much to be honest but I did expect something. Anyone who talks about a huge SOTP gain is talking out of their pants. In saying that the car is stock bar catbacks. It should pick up with a CAI.............maybe
Nice code reader though :laughing5:

Predator performance tune on a stock GT

getting a tune on a stock car alone is not going resolve anything. You need bolt-ons to coincide with the tune. A tune is there to just maximize performance of the modifications you have. The only 4.6's that I've ever seen benefit from a tune when they're stock is a 99 GT. The integration of the returnless fuel system was not properly configured for in the stock tune and that's why there are so many TSB's for the PCM in 99.

when the car is cold and you floor it, the car will hesitate like crazy and in between shifts at full throttle severe hesitation occurs, this is due to the fuel pressure dropping to zero because the computer is in open loop when cold and it thinks you're off the gas in between shifts. a tune resolves this.

Mod your car more and a tune will be more effective. Oh and speed limiters suck...

So a 2003 is a slightly different set up? I understand that remapped /tuned and so on works a bit better with bolt ons, CAIs etc but like i said, its a handy code reader.

2000-2004 they resolved the tune issue with the fuel pressure drop, as well as they increased injector size to 22lb from 19, so yes it's slightly different.

Yes as you go on, specifically adding a plenum, t/b, and cai, you'll see gains across the board for a tune, because as you increase more air, you can add more fuel, and add more timing/spark (91+ octane even moreso).

I personally love my SCT. It's a code reader as well as I can connect it to my computer and datalog how well the car is running.

thanks mate.

To be fair, for the money its a decent bit of kit.I took it another spin tonight. My auto box shifts a lot more firmer now and with a bit more conviction as opposed to the dull drone into the next gear so in that respect its been good. (A bit of crunching into reverse now - me, not the car!)
In all honesty it was a needless purchase as I`m not really that speed orientated and I`m quite mechanically sympathetic. BUT, I`ll still end up buying bits and pieces and thats the whole point of owning cars like these.
My last car was a Type R Accord. Couldn`t really do much with it as it was all done. The Mustang has tons of scope for upgrading.
