Well this started earlier than I thought it would and I thought why not make a thread about it. Well here goes nothing with this 1995 Mustang GT conv. The odometer broke at 196,xxx so the mileage is around 210,xxx as a guess; but surprising it still runs strong and the T5 shifts without a problem. A goal for this car as of right now is to get it back to being a daily driver, this this thread is at first is just going to be a restore project cause this thing in more ways than one is beat. I can't complain that much cause it's still a very solid platform to start from and any major modding won't come for some time. Hopefully...

As for the car it is actually my little brother's; he is 14 and still learning how to turn a wrench lol! But right now it will be my Dad's daily until my bro can start driving.

As it sits right now...

Car has actually already changed some from the pictures, as its sitting on 16" chrome cobra rs' and I already replaced the serpentine belt and battery terminals so we could actually drive it to get inspected.

Plans for the car are....

Motor :
Full tune up...Spark plugs, wires, all fluids, etc.
Remove silence
Fuel pump
Fix the damn vacuum leak so the dash vents work, hopefully that will fix the slightly surging idle
If the engine were to blow up soon it would be getting a 307ci GT40 build we have being built in the shop right now.

Suspension :
Shocks
Struts
Bushings
It will get lowered at some point, not soon though.

Braking:
Drilled rotors
Powder coated red calipers
Pads

Exhaust:
Headers are still under inspection as they are so rusted
Hpipe of my 94 as it's cats are rusted out and it needs to pass emissions
Dynomax SS catback

Interior:
Radio, we have a Pioneer head unit that will fit in there somewhere around here.
Replace the blown speakers for the Mach 430 system
Racing seats up front, rear seat delete
Still need to get driver side door panel insert
Rear window motors

Exterior:
The tan top is brand new
A needed detailing
Chin Spoiler
Restore tail lights
Headlights....undecided
And at some point put on the gloss black, polished lip 17x9 FR500s on it lol!

The best part about all this is we already have 99% of the parts waiting to go on! Stay tuned for updates!

Sounds good dude. Your bro's only 2 years younger than I was when I got my stang last September. He's gonna love the car. Btw did you lower your car?? Sig pic looks sick my dude. Keep us posted. I plan on restoring my tails too, they're pretty much faded completely. Luckily I got like 3 cans of Rustoleum black lacquer and couple cans of clear. You plan on repainting them?

He better love it lucky guy got it for free! Ha I wish I had lowered my car, Ferocious gave me a look at what it will look like after I lower it, it will sit like that soon though! As for the tail lights Im going to see what my bro wants done to them, I think it would look great if he just sprayed them black cause it would go along with his FR500s that hes putting on and be cheaper :) info on them soon.

As of right now the car is in the shop getting an inspection. Then coming back home to be wrenched on some more.

Yeah the auto merge can be annoyin lol. I'm sure he'll love it, whats not to love its a mustang lol. Unless he wants a prius or somethin haha. That stance is perfect, I like how the back sits a little higher than the front looks mean imho. Sprayin the tails black would look good with the black fr500s, other black accents would pull it all together. Tell him to start saving some $$ haha, no fun being 16-17 and no money to put in the car lol. Good luck wit it !

Seriously haha! Thanks man I hope the BBK Gripps Im planning to get and running without isos will give me a stance like that.

Yeah Im gonna just get him to do that lol, probably respray or try to restore the wiper panel, side view mirrors, top molding, tail lights, and the rear bumper panel. Ive done the wiper panel and side view mirriors on my car in a gloss black, depending on his input I may just be doing it in a satin so it lasts alittle longer and to go along with any parts of the body we may just plasti-dip black which would be satin as well. Maybe do some black bumper inserts as well.

I hope I can find a heavy enough compound to get the fading on his spoiler to go away, that would save the ass of his car for sure. I think it clear coat is fugged up though so he might just be plasti dipping the spoiler and bumper panel black to see how they looked before we do something to drastic.

Sounds good dude. Plasti-dip FTW. I just used the stuff a week ago to make my stock wheels black. The stuff really works lol. Wanna know how hard it is to clean my wheels now? Spray a little armor all on a rag and wipe the wheels down... LOL. Make sure whatever you're gonna plasti dip is extremely clean (like clean enough that'd you eat off it) and dry. If it's not completely dry or 100% clean it won't work right. I'm gonna attempt to do my rear lower valence (the fading plastic part on the back bumper @ the bottom) in plasti dip. The stuff lasts a long time too if you do it right. I know its not saying much but I had my pony grille emblem plasti dipped from october to the middle of february, looked the same as the first day it was plasti dipped lol. Lasted through a ton of snow, rain and the hurricane, so the stuff is tough

Thanks for the input man, and you should throw up some pictures in a members ride thread with your plastidipped wheels your car is getting blacked out :). Yeah I've done a few things with plasti dip on some other cars, I know its great with rims, my older brother and I did his stock SS wheels and they turned out great, we even did it before he had tires mounted on it and even through the mounting process it didnt get messed up much at all.

You might want to add 'restore/replace tailpipes' on the list lol.

Good luck with the car though.

Thanks man! I know the exhaust is terrible lol! We have a Dynomax SS catback that will be going on there soon, its got some really nice slashed exhaust tips to get rid of all that rusted pipe. The exhaust on there right now is going to just get cut off soon, well whats left of it.

Np dude. I put up some pics of the blacked out wheels in my build thread. I'm gonna go outside and take a quick video of the car and show everything I did so far. Car's pretty dirty though. Yeah its amazing how tough it is, i had a screw in my right front tire. Brought it to get fixed, they dismounted the tire and put it back on, very little dip was affected lol.

They came out really good dude. Plasti dip is really easy to use. 1000x times better though if its 65 degrees or warmer out though. I dipped my wheels in like 45-50 degree weather lol

Well she is still chilling in the shop...had a few more things wrong with it that I don't have to tools to do, so now we wait. Good thing is we already have the parts for the problems we figured out from the inspection.

Tan is your avatar a Gundam?? Holy fawk I haven't seen one of those since I was a kid!

Lol now ON topic... Solid car you have to start with! I hope. What's the condition of the undercarraige? Is it as rusted as the exhaust? If so you may want to be very careful on how much work you do on this car. If it's not, then by all means build away man. One thing I noticed is the rust around the shock tower bolts. I would for sure get on top of that before it turns into a major problem. Not trying to down you or anything man I'm just pointing out little things that you may have missed. I really think you can make this a good running car but you should check everything over before trying to fix it and give it to your brother. As we all know when your 16 you feel invincible, ESPECIALLY in a V8 haha. And I'd really hate for your bro to crash it and it be so rotted out that it makes the accident any worse ya know?

But if you've already looked over that shit and it's good to go then by all means let's get some work done! I think the plasidipping will make those things look a lot better than they are since they're already so sun faded. Then you can do that little lower valence and wing! I have to say... I wish I had a car that cool for my first car. I'm jealous haha

Yes it is!:) something reminded me of them and I thought it would remind everyone of them lol. As for the car it's really in not that bad of condition at all, any signs of rust is really just a surface thing from it sitting for so long. It had just gone through inspection and the shop didn't raise any concerns about it either. Whenever they finish some of the bigger projects on that car that I didn't have the tools to do Ill be getting the car back and will definitely take care of any and all rust. Thanks for the concern man!

Well just got an update from the shop, theyve finished up a lot on the car, new dynomax catback is on and looks great. I need to get the pictures off my brothers phone to throw them up on here. We ran into a few hang ups along the way as now both rack and pinions we have purchased have had ruined threading, literally its so wrong you can rub it off with your thumb. Need to buy a good rack and pinion and then it shouldnt be much longer before she is back home!
