OK so the transmission in my 94 needs to either be rebuilt or replaced. I have a line on a good t56 out of a gm. I know that it is possible to use the gm t56 but also have read that the viper spec t56 is the best. I have not however been able to get a definitive answer as to why. I know that the gear ratios are slightly more favorable but is it stronger? I will be supercharging the car soon and will need a stronger trany to hold it. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

There are 03/04 Cobras out there running 550 hp and not having trans problems. If you know how to drive, you should be fine. I can't remember the tq specs for the Viper t56, but IIRC it's not much different than the Cobra's. The primary difference is the gear ratios.

Gear ratios are different, you'll need a T-56 5.0 belhousing, and you'll need to shorten the driveshaft. Might need to cut the welds on the rear cross member and move it back a little as well (not 100% sure on that one though).

Viper T56 is a lot stronger than the regular T56.

Buy a TKO 500 or a 600.
