I just put a small spoon of powder on top and packed it in with my fingers. Took a razor blade across the top to remove as much of the extra powder as possible and then blew the powder off the housing with the air hose. I baked it then did the silver and learned a lesson. When i did the silver i taped off the plaque part with heat tape and sprayed the silver and baked it. When i pulled the heat tape off it actually pulled out alot of the teal with it. i had to repeat the first process with the teal to get it back into the grooves. The photo is of the second coat of teal. It was more defined the first time but didnt come out as good the second. If this was going under the hood i would strip it and do it all over again. As it is going under the car it will do just fine. Its just nice to do something besides black.

Super nice... what kind of equipment are you guys using... is it like the kits you can buy from summit for like $350, or something else? I get all my work done buy a guy in town but it would be a lot more convenient in my garage

I think the finish is pretty cool. It does a good job of hiding the rough surface underneath. What do you guys think?

Haha, no. They were already blasted and I didn't have any glass to re-blast them so I just had to coat them as-is.

Your valve covers were a "6 hour quicky" because I wanted them to look awesome.

I haven't coated any gun stuff. (yet) Don't know if I ever will.

I don't have a machinegun. (yet)

...but if I did, I have a whole stack of P-Mags, and they're plastic so no powdercoating. :)

You do really really good work Paul. You've defiently got me interested in having stuff powdercoated for my 67.

That 2.3L also makes me wish I had one for DD. Look pretty niiioooceee.

wait a second.... is that a split-port 2.3T? I only know of one person that is running that engine.

I don't know what a split port is - but I doubt it's anything fancy. I yanked this motor out of a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe at a junkyard a while back. It's mostly stock except for a ported head and intake.

the 2.3 motor came in both single-port and split-port engines. there is no such thing as a split-port turbo from the factory.

this is a normal 2.3T. notice the upper intake. its a little hard to see, but on the back-side its "ribbed" and has lettering embossed in it, as opposed to the one in your picture thats smooth and has multiple runners with no text.

The motor we pulled out looked just like that. We changed the intake, and the valve cover to the ones you see in the pics. I still have another valve cover that I want to do some crazy custom coating on, but I'm afraid to start that project. LOL
