I have a JL 12W3 that has never been opened. I want to put this in the back of my 04 Cobra. I found a write-up that will allow me to use the factory head unit and splice into some wires.

1. The factory rear speakers were deleted when the roll-cage went in (they punch through the speaker holes!), This should not be a problem, correct?

2. I also have a JL 250 1 amp to drive this subwoofer. What are your opinions on this setup?

Background: In my 1998 GT I installed a rockford fosgate amp and sub that was on sale at car toys. That is the extent of my stereo knowledge. (Used a JVC head-unit).

This set up should be plenty for classy bass with good music but if you are looking for the super thump wake the neighbors bass you need more power but a good choice in sub. What you need is a line converter like this (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_142LOC80/Scosche-LOC80.html?tp=2001) you can take your rear speaker lines and run them into the speaker level inputs which converts the signal into a usable output for your sub. After that it is just plug and play. Power, ground, remote turn on, and rca's. If you want to maintain your factory head unit what I would do would be tap the acc. wire and run it to the amp. This may cause feedback when the stock radio is off so I used to hide a simple toggle switch to shut it off independently. Pretty simple actually.
