I have a 97 mustang convertible and the radio has power and will go through all the motions with the exception of when I place it on scan it will just continue to go on and on and does not pick up any stations. There is no sound coming from either the radio or the cassette player. Help!

the scan problem is probably the antenna. Pull the deck out and be sure it is plugged in and then follow it down and you can find another location that can come apart under the dash. Make sure they are both solidly connected.

As for the lack of sound, assuming its the stock mach system check your fuses. Check them all...

Antenna and fuses all check. Still no stations found on the radio. May go with an aftermarket radio. I bought one on eBay that was supposed to be for the car but the wiring harness connectors are totally different. The best I can tell it was for a Windstar rather than a Mustang. It’s really don’t know where to go from here. Thank you

if the stock antenna seems ok, normally if I were at a shop I would take an aftermarket antenna and plug it in just to see if it worked with it to confirm if the stock antenna is good/bad. Obviously not everyone has an extra antenna around to do this, what sucks is the alternative is to assume the tuner is bad and replace the radio. If you do this and it is the antenna the new radio will not work either....

I bought a spare antenna and the same results so I’m assuming that the radio is bad. I have been trying to find the correct wiring harness for the other radio that I bought but I have not been able to find it.

if this is an aftermarket harness for a pioneer/alpine deck try pacific coast parts. If you mean for the factory wire harness take a pic of what you have

The one on the left is the radio that I purchased that was supposed to be for the car. The two wiring harnesses on the right are the ones that were attached to the radio in the car.
